Which fixed knife for general utility shall I pick?

G'day,
I love a good fixed blade, but I wouldn't carry one on me while riding--a tiny 'off' could be a disaster as the fixed blade would easily go through the sheath, the jacket and me!

I don't think it would be particularly safer. I think it was Gollnick who related a car crash story where his folder ended up stabbed into the back seat. A crash can open a folder as easily as it can drive a fixed blade through the sheath (more or less anyway).

Well designed kydex with eyelets in key points (tip, and along the edges often enough) would be my guess as to safest. But in a crash, the plastic could break and free the blade...

Nothing's perfectly safe.

Let us know what you pick.

Simple solution. Don't wear the knife while you ride. Of course if you ride a bike, the least of your concerns should be a knife. The semi that doesn't see you, the deer crossing the road, the patch of gravel in the middle of the turn, these things should concern you. Bikers are cool, but they ya gotta know it ain't all that safe to begin with.
