I have a camping trip planned for couple of days out in the wild. Well, not real wild, but still. I was wondering which filder I should take with me (out of my available ones). Here are my thoughs: 1) it should be reasonably tough (it isn't particularly rough camping, but still), 2) it should be something reasonably sheapple-friendly and 3) reasonably practical.
Here are the contenders:
1. BM 710 (M2)
2. MT LCC
3. Blue Bump
4. BM HK (spear point)
5. MT CMTX5
6. Delica (ZDP) (prolly too small)
7. Spyderco Persian (large)
8. BM Miniskirmish
9. EK Mini Commander

Thoughts?

Ixnay on all of them, and get a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife. Look for one with a saw blade. Very practical, "sheapple" friendly, and reasonably tough. Cost less than most of your contenders, too. No big deal if lost.

Out of those I'd take the 710, though it's not the most sheeple friendly. Otherwise I'd prefer a Vic Farmer (Soldier with a saw) or a Buck 110.

I guess i am seeing that as hard as i try, i cant avoid getting a SAK. For some reason i find them aesthetically unapealing, but I guess it is a practical solution

They aren't the prettiest knives, I'll agree with you there. I much prefer the looks of a classy old slipjoint or a 110 to them, but once you use them you'll see why we rave about them. You can pry with the screwdrivers and awls, grind them into wood chisels, have a compact and handy saw, can opener to open canned food with and save needless sharpening of your knife etc. Not to mention their actual blades will outcut the vast majority of the knives people here will gladly spend over 100$ to open their mail with. Also, I can't think of any knives out there that are as painless and quick to sharpen.

Get ya a Spyderco Pacific Salt. Only thing Spyderco could do better with that fine knife is to offer it in a combo edge. Otherwise its a fine choice for a survival and outdoor folder IMO.

I gotta go with the motion to nix them all, and just get a Victorinox soldier or farmer. Tough versitle knives that do alot besides just cut. And they'll cut just as good as some of the overpriced bragging rights knives out there.

Out of those I'd go with either the 710 or the EK Mini Commander. Both are plenty tough, though expensive to abuse or lose. The 710's bigger: bigger= better when camping. I always use a fixed blade when in the woods. A big one. A Becker Brute or Ka-Bar Cutlass is a great camping buddy. You can gather firewood lickety split with either. And swinging a big blade makes you feel like a man!:D

If the sheeple give you any shit just say: "I'm camping, bitch! You can't chop wood with a Starbucks straw or a spork!"

Since the trip is friday, I assume 710 is taking the trip with me... but for future use i guess i'll get a SAK and Pacific Salt

I think i am going to quote you on that.

Is the place your going wild?, or some place with a lot of sheeple. The 710 gets my vote, but i would also add a SAK for good measure. If you that concerend just tell the sheeple to p*** off because your not in a P.C. world anymore, and if they don't like it, then they can get into their never seen a sceond off road use SUV and leave

You don't say what kind of camping. If I'm carrying a backpack, I just bring a SAK. If I'm car camping, I kind of overdo things...;)

Blue Bump. You can see it if you drop it, and it won't likely rust; the M2 might if you don't cut much. Plus you have the flipper guard for security.
