Which folder for a camping trip?

I'm going to add my vote to the 710 crowd. Tough enough for what ever, yet sharp enough for food prep. ...And I'm stick'en to it.

Definently the 710. I used my 806 for a week of backpacking along the Canadian barrier, and could not have been more happy. Axis locks and G10 love the outdoors! Off of your list: A wetterlings wildlife hatchet (don't use a knife to do a hatchet's job, use a hatchet) and a Mora knife (K.J. Erikson makes the best ones by far). That's just what I use. Good luck.

Before you actually go camping, take some sticks and sit on the back deck and just whittle them down to little sticks.
Take your time.

Determine which knife is the most comfortable to use for long periods of cutting.
Determine which handles cause hotspots or even blisters.
Determine which grip textures and traction grooves are irritating to your hand.
Then decide which one to take with you.

Good luck,
Allen.

That was actually a very good idea. It was a tie between 710 and MT LCC. 710 though is lighter and prolly better for food prep. Thanks for the idea for the test.

Good advice Allen. I do the same thing myself. I keep some pieces of wood handy to test all the new knives I get, since that's one of my more common activities.
