Which folder for hunting/camping/survival?

The folders I have used for camping are the Pioneer I, Carnivour and Klotzli. I don't own some of the knives that were previously mentioned, but all of the knives I mentioned have done exceptionally well in the field.
All seem to be extremely stain and rust resistant, which is important when you don't have the time or resources to keep the blade wiped down all the time.

I would recommend the Spydie StarMate and Military, both in plain edge. Following that would be the Carnivour in plain edge. After that, nothing.

BM 720 for around a $100.00........if you can't afford a Sebenza.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act but a habit. A way of life.

Another for the large Wegner. Mine locks up like a fixed blade, anyway.

Hey, Folks!

Check out the new forum in the Tactics and Training section: "Wilderness and Survival Skills"

Dr. Ron Hood and Greg Davenport are two of the most experienced survival instructors in the world -- and are online discussing issues of wilderness survival right now!

I'm onboard as the gruntworker and administrative moderator -- these guys are the ones we can all learn from!

Best,

Brian.

No Sebenza? The BM 720 comes to mind.

When hiking, I carry a Pioneer II w/ swept point blade. The wide hollow ground semi-skinner blade works well for most hiking/camping chores as well as in the camp kithen. RECATs are strong and very well made.

I always keep a good fixed blade in the backpack as well, usually my old stag handled Buck 119-S w/ 6" blade.
