Which folder is built like a tank?

Either the CRKT Crawford/Kasper Fighting Folder, OR the Cold Steel Gunsite Folder.

BOTH are "built like tanks", and should last "for awhile".

It all boils down to how much you want to spend. There a lot of heavyweights out there and its a tough call. Pick out something these guys have listed and you won't go wrong.

Not only is it super strong. It has much better balance than most of the other folders mentioned here. Not handle heavy at all. And its comfortable to carry in your pocket, either hip pocket or back pocket provided your using the clip.

Tank folder?? Buck Strider, hands down. There just isn't any other knives comes close in beefy, solid wise IMHO. And the price is right.

buck strider, This is one tough knife, looks and feels more like a pry bar. So it weighs 5 pounds and the handle is 7 inches long and the blade is 4 inches long. So what? Actually my favorite tough knives I own and use are the bm 710, the bm 750 and the mt elite auto. 3 different locks but 3 of the best in my book. Good hunting to you which is part of the fun. Later

Another vote for the Benchmade 750.

I must be losing my mind! I can't believe I didn't mention the Spyderco Wegner. Awesome knife. Locks up with a solid THUD.

I have never held anything BEEFIER than my semi-modified REKAT PIONEER II. Lock-Up is second to none, in my eyes, ATS-34 is easy to sharp, and holds up well to everything. Stainless Steel liners offer better torsional rigidity then the titanium ones on soem of my other knives.

BTW: The modification I refer to is when I had to epoxy the internal pins to either end of the "channel." Before this, the knife developed minor blade play. After this modification...THE KNIFE IS A TANK.

Another piece that I feel gets little attention is the Mini-Stryker by Benchmade. Yes it is a liner lock, and yes it has titanium liners. BUT: It's stout dimesions allow it to do everything better than its larger brother! TRUST ME-I HAVE BOTH!!!

The price of strong & tanklike:

Expensive = Large Tanto Sebenza
Moderate = CQC7 Tanto
Economy = CRKT M16-14 Tanto

I bought a Microtech LCC today for my daily carry and am absolutely loving it. It's the thickest, most robust folding knife I'm willing to have on me.

The Buck Strider is an awesome crew-served folding knife. It's not a liner lock, that's an oversized Sebenza with G-10 scales for a better grip! I mean, they could remove the scales and call it an integral lock. It really was something only the guys at Strider could come up with. Unfortuantly they are too big for my pockets. But if its a tank you want, there you have it.

Production - MOD CQD and chalk up another for the Buck Strider.

As far as custom goes, only need to mention one name: Farid

He may be derivitive, and his knives may not have the nicest finish, but no one on this earth makes a stouter folder than Farid. Hammerhead sells them at a reasonable price, and they are simply indestructible.

I have just three letters for you LCC
