The 8 IMO is not that heavy, and the wave feature is really handy. Especially if you were hanging on the side of a pole. Not two motions to open it, when it comes out of your pocket it's already open, though you can also pull it out without opening if you want to.
The Contego is good too, a simple wrist flick outward ("kinetic opening") will open it up no problem because the blade has so much mass. But the black coated ones are CPM-M4 steel, which will rust. And you work outside I take it.
Take care of either one, no worries. The Emerson 8 won't rust nearly as easily, it's stainless steel bladed so much more corrosion resistant.
Same with the ZT 0560. Stainless, titanium and G10 material construction throughout, less corrosion tendencies. It's a great knife, too.
I have all three, and it's a tough choice. You cannot go wrong with any of these three.
My pick if (I were a lineman) would be Emerson 8, ZT and then Contego. I carry all my knives, and the Contego gets the least amount of pocket time. Not sure why.
