I sold off a Colossus to purchase a Kodiak, right about the time that I learned that my better half and I are expecting our first child. I saw this as an opportunity to get a larger bag with a more comfortable carry method, as well as having the ability to be used as a daddy-diaper-bag. I have some get-home essentials in it, with plenty of room left over for baby related gear.
Currently carrying a basic first aid kit (self assembled), a GI poncho, GI hankerchief, flashlight, leatherman, SS water bottle (no liner, can use it to cook in directly), deer skin leather gloves, an Atwood whistle, and a few other smaller items. There is a LOT of room left over, and I see how it could easily get overstuffed and over weight for one strap. I like having the extra room over the Sitka, for bulky but still relatively lightweight items like jackets or blankets.
