It's called "marketing", the sellers wouldn't claim to have anything but the best of products if they want to actually sell their stuff. There are thousands of different types of epoxy, and what works for one application can fail miserably at another.
Gorilla glue works for most people, Honestly it doesn't have to be some super epoxy. Just clean up the surfaces, score the wood a bit to give the glue some traction. Pins or screws are always a plus.
Rough up the surfaces, clean with acetone before the epoxy is applied. Pins, whether through or hidden are a must. Pops knife supply sells excellent epoxies.
