Which HI khuk most resembles this one?

take it, possum.

I do appreciate your offer....I'm thinking about making a trip out there while I'm in Atlanta for the Blade show in June. They still have them available for "browsing"?

OOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

That's it! The Berk (Burke?) Special!!!
That's the one I wants!! That's the profile I'm looking for.
Will have to contact HI yet and see if they have any available. (or was this just a special run?) If they don't have one, does anyone here own one? I've been searching the forums for one, and have only seen one picture so far. That one came with a whole bunch of tools that I don't necessarily need...

I spoke with the lady in returns at AC today, but she couldn't give me a definite answer. She said she'd have to check with someone else, and get back to me tomorrow. Sounds like it won't be a problem to "unload" mine though.

Dan-
I finally checked out your kukri FAQ, and saw that outline on the dynamic page. Thanks for such a wonderful resource. I am not sure though, what you meant when you said, "take it, possum." Did you mean that you'll take it? Or that I should take bismark's offer? Or that I should take pictures? Sorry, possums are not known for their keen intellect. Since you asked first, (and were so generous in your heat treat offer) I'll give you first dibs if you are still interested. Don't suppose you have a Berk special you'd be willing to trade, or sell, eh? :) It was last summer when I bought mine, so I don't know for sure if they still have the handle-less ones in the showroom. I'd certainly expect they would.

It's worth dropping by at any rate. They were kind enough to entertain me and my father by taking us to one (that's right, they have more than one!) of their huge warehouses to look at the stockpile of weapons they aquired in Nepal. We got to see several cannon, old machine guns, and I have a picture of my dad standing in front of pallets of thousands upon thousands of antique muzzle loading rifles. There were kukris, bayonets, and stuff by the bin full.

Have a look at the weight on the Berk specials... I remember some of em' being a bit heavier than other models of similar length.

The Berk special is one of those models that show up every now and then as a UBBB. It's probably best to e-mail Uncle Bill.

possum - I'll give up my spot - feel free to sell/trade to someone else. My F-I-L really wants a WWII pattern...hopefully we'll get one!

Yes, the Berk Specials (Dui Chirras) are heavy, but gorgeous, and they have the traditional-tyle handles. There was one on the deals thread on 3-10 (listed as 30 oz.), and they have been showing up fairly often.
