Between the 2, I'd go military. Bigger blade is better for self defense, more edge means more cuts before re-sharpening.
Ideally, I'd like a fixed blade in cpm 3v.

I agree, it's usually best to have a fixed blade as well.
It dont need a stronger tip than the PM2 or/and the Millie. Why would it?Personally, I don’t think the tip on most Spyderco knives would be very durable. If I were to choose one, I would probably go with the para2. As far as military use goes, I’m not sure is tough and heavy duty always means it is more suitable for military use. A few years ago someone on here really complimented how well their Benchmade 530 performed while overseas.
