Spyderco Which in is better for military use? Paramilitary 2 or the Military?

I wasn't suggesting that you couldn't use other knives... But you would think that a knife called the military and designed with the military in mind would possibly be useful in that setting... I was only asking what you would prefer to use. And I agree, they wouldn't be very good for self defense or hard use of any sort.

Between the 2, I'd go military. Bigger blade is better for self defense, more edge means more cuts before re-sharpening.

Ideally, I'd like a fixed blade in cpm 3v.

I was think more along the lines of a John Rambo knife. It includes compass in case you get lost, matches, line and fish hook!AB220B49-D3CA-4FCD-B15A-972D1CDC9A2F.jpeg

I agree, it's usually best to have a fixed blade as well.

Some of the units I was in had an SOP that prevented fixed blades. Others would allow only issued fixed blades. (One of my deployments only allowed the issued Ontario ASEK as a fixed blade)

That Rambo knife: Surprised, it took this long for one like it to show up.

Assume you are joking.

Dont think, a modern war fighter could drag along a more useless blade.

List of the contents in the handle does not speak to its advantage either.

In modern asymmetric warfare in the desert none of the stuff is called for.

The guys have lighters, GPS and there aint nowhere to fish.

1971 called - a jungle in Vietnam wants the knife back.

Personally, I don’t think the tip on most Spyderco knives would be very durable. If I were to choose one, I would probably go with the para2. As far as military use goes, I’m not sure is tough and heavy duty always means it is more suitable for military use. A few years ago someone on here really complimented how well their Benchmade 530 performed while overseas.

It dont need a stronger tip than the PM2 or/and the Millie. Why would it?

The thing is, that few grunts need a trench digging strong knife .... let alone staff pukes.

I think this one would be a hit with current generation of troops.
