The only Striders I have seen serrated were custom ordered that way, but ya never know. :) I cant imagine that it would cost a lot to get them serrated at the shop. Theres a ton of really good "knife pimpers" here that would be more than happy to make er toothy. Ban comes to mind first.

Reeve has made some awesome serrated knives as well.

Thanks, Leatherman!

Great to know. I'm not a fan of serrations, at least on my Striders but I'm sure there are plenty of folks who like the serrations.

Hey all. Sorry I haven't been on BF in a while. Thanks for the information. I just saw a picture of the Strider MK1A (partially serrated) on Blue Line Gear (thanks for the link John T Wylie Jr) and I am going to look more into that. Thanks again for the info.

couldn't agree more.

For the purposes a knife is intended to be used for , I would say either of the knives you the original poster is considering would do just fine.

I keep a small prybar in my trunk in case I need it , I value my knives , they are not prying tools or hammering tools or intended to chop firewood ( when a small axe from Lowes would do the job much better and still leave me and Leatherface a free hand to hold our beers :D )

Sometimes the folks that Strider knives and Chris Reeve Knives are aimed at don't have the option of carrying a prybar, axe and a hammer. He might not have a free hand to hold a beer since he is probably holding his M-4 rifle.

The Strider Mk-1A has a longer handle (and longer blade) than the Mk-1.

In either case I prefer the swedged versions. But, they both cut well.
