Which is better for in-pocket carry?

I have carried a minigrip every work day in my pocket for over a year now. It's just fine with the clip left on it and I have never had an issue with a "weak detent". If someone had an issue I'm pretty sure it was due to a very worn lock or loose pivot. I find most of these BM issues to be nothing more than internet myth.

Delica would def be better with no clip in pocket. However, one hand opening a delica with no clip may be annoying

Oddly I never liked carrying the mini grip until I took the clip off. Clipped to my pocket it always felt awkward, too short for its thickness. Loose in the pocket with a small lanyard and I like it much better. It's never come open all by itself.

In my case that was definitely not the cause. New knife, tight pivot. The ease with which axis lock knives can be flipped, which seems to be a selling point among many, leads to the problem. You can't have a super easy smooth opening without this danger. The thumbstuds get caught on something, and the knife opens. I have been bitten because of this. If nothing catches the thumbstuds, the tension on the omega springs will keep the blade closed. But catch it on anything...

The round hole in Spyderco blades does not catch on things as easily as the thumbstuds on the mini-grip. And the delica especially has a much stronger bias toward closed than the mini-grip anyway.

Same here.

I did the same with my Bugout. A Bugout with no clip is the OP’s perfect knife IMO. Even with the deep carry clip, it gives most of what the Delica and Mini Grip give but thinner. A bit longer, but weighs almost nothing....

OK . . . I'm starting to get it.

For what it is worth I carry my keys in my left pocket and a knife in my right (strong side) front pocket. Meaning no key ring to snag the thumb stud and not much of any thing that would scratch up my knife.

Same here, no keys in the front right pocket, just a knife clipped or loose in the pocket. So no risk of catching on a thumb stud.

Like many on the forum I've had every knife mentioned on this thread except for the bugout.

While in many respects the leek is the lesser knife out of all knives mentioned it's 100% as someone else mentioned it's the best in pocket carry out of them all. It's not the greatest if one could only choose one knife but for an unobtrusive one hand edc it's pretty great.

I would just like to add that the purchase of a mini-grip does not require concerns over a thumbstud. You can get it with a thumb hole too.

I like the Delica i have. Couldn’t you carry it dropped in pocket with the clip still in place. Also a new candidate to consider id the new Buck 112 Ranger Slim. Remove the clip and you’re in business. Just another option.

Yeah, if I'm taking a clip off of a knife to carry in pocket, it'll be the Benchmade Bugout.

Spyderco Jess Horn and Baby Jess Horn work really well though, too.

Between the Delica and the Mini Grip, I'd be hard pressed to decide. They're both great carries.

And the "opening up in the pocket" thing as a decider? Nah.... Complete non-issue.

BM Grip model 555 has a hole for opener, hollow grind. Never had a problem with the detent but I don't carry with a loose pivotl like some do who like to flick and flick. Delica requires a bit more to open because it is a lock back. I have both and like the Mini Grip over the Delica for carry. For cutting the Delica is full flat grind better for slicing.

I have a mini grip and a delica. I like both of them but I would say the delica has a slight advantage because it's thinner.
But in my opinion the Bugout is better than both. I bought a Bugout to take hiking but I find myself carrying it all the time.
Great blade, thin and weights nothing...
