Which is better? the 110 or the 112?

I think in my opinion, it boils down to size preference. Since the 112 is basiclly just a smaller version of the 110, what's good about one is also good about the other and vice versa. I prefer the 110 because it seems to fit my hand better than the smaller 112. For camping use, the 110 might be better for some uses because of the longer blade, but overall, I don't think you'll find much if any difference in the performance of the two.

I with Dave. The 110 blade has a longer reach and the fit in my hand is better. If I want a smaller blade I'll use a pocket knife.

I aggree with Dave, it's a size preference. If you are a smaller guy/GIRL you may want the smaller 112. If you are a person with larger hands you may prefer the beefer 110.

100% agree with Plumberdv, it's all about size. I've got both and although on paper they don't seem too different in size, in the hand they're very different.

So, if I were you, I'd try and get to a local shop and compare side to side. They're both solidly built (understatment!), don't think they perform very differently, it's what fits YOU best that counts in the end.

Another factor is that you can usually find a new 110 for less money than a 112. You can get a 110 at WalMart really cheap but I've never seen a 112 there.

The 112, though smaller, is nevertheless a beefy and fully capable knife IMO. However, there are a few things that the 110 can do that the 112 cannot, but the converse probably is not true.

Buck 112.

Time for 110 Dave to tell his story of why the 112 was created.

:D

We should also remember that the 112 clearly has some advantages over a "pocketknife" of similar size.

If it didn't......it wouldn't be.

I've have quite a few 110s,but never had a 112.I might have to remedy that someday.I can honestly say that the Buck 110 is my favorite lockback of all time.I've been carrying one on and off for 32 years. It was my edc while in the Marines, along with my Kabar it got used alot in the field.

As far as I'm concerned neither is better as both are the best! Been collecting 110's for a couple of years now and hadn't owned a 112 in 15 years until about a month ago when I picked up a two dot 112. I now have two and am looking to acquire more. The 112 is everything the 110 is, just in a smaller package. I doubt the 112 will ever replace the 110 as my most favored Buck folder but that's OK cause it doesn't have to. From a strictly camping standpoint you'd probably benefit from the extra length of the 110 but for general, every day use both are winners in my book.

A big thing for me was the 112 lost a lot of realestate when I put gloves on. There's nearly a 1.5 oz difference in weight between the 2. Buy em both and use each where it fits best lol. Just an idea

Yeah, they're not that expensive.

Buy both and use them as you need them.

The 112 works for my every-day needs, but if I was going camping or hunting I'd bring out a Three-Dot 110.

BTW, most good Cabela's pants have a 110/112 sized flap pocket on the side of the right leg.

Wardrobe is everything.

:)

110 all the way. I do have a nice micarta scales 112 but when I pick it up I always wind up comparing it to my 110. It's like the old Mercury commercial when speaking of the 110 - "It just feels right."

A 112 with a DP blade in paper stone with finger grooves is close to a perfect pocket knife..I cannot think of any 'job' a 110 would be better at..If you need more knife you really need a much bigger one..

DP?

Paper stone?

HERESY!!!!!!

Next you'll be wanting it with a Powder-Puff Steel Blade!!!

I want the real thing or NOTHING.

:D

I live where you can carry whatever you want and usually carry a 110 on my belt. Lately I have been carrying a 112 some of the time and never feel as if I am missing out on anything.

Hi Todd,

Welcome to the Buck forum!

Any smart man will tell you that the 110 is much better than a 112! I mean the 112 is much better than the 110....you know....the old "less filling" -VS- "better taste" thing. These folks have set it to you as it is. it's all about what you like....not what we like. I like them both, but have more 110's as they come with more art on the blades than the 112's;). I like most of my knives to have Tattoos.
