i just need to choose one to carry all the time every day usage and i cant really decide there about about the same price , blade material etc but from peoples experience you lot know a hell more than i do so your opinion which is better and why many thx any help is appricated greatly

I do not own a Manix but I do own a Paramilitary and a MiniManix (slightly smaller than the Manix). Aside from the obvious differences, such as blade shape and handle geometry, I would say that their weight is probably the most dramatic difference. For its size, the Paramilitary feels rather light and this makes it well suited for an EDC. On the other hand, the MiniManix is quite hefty and you definitely know its there when it is clipped to your pocket. Its extra weight is due to its liners, back spacer, and large blade.

However, I believe that the MiniManix has superior ergonomics over the Para. It feels so comfortable in the hand and it is well suited for prolonged cutting. It feels good when gripped with or without the choil. Whereas the Para only feels comfortable to me when it is being gripped using the choil.

If you have the opportunity, I would suggest going to a knife store to handle them before you decide. That way you can see which one you prefer. Or simply buy both and give each of them some pocket time...that is what I did :D

I also don't own a Manix, but I do own a Para Military and it is one of my EDCs lately. I carry it in my front right pocket because it rides a little too high for rear pocket, in my opinion.

I have read plenty about how large and heavy the Manix brothers are, so that should be one of your considerations. The Para Military is not a particularly heavy knife.

I have a Mini-Manix, and a Para, and I prefer the Minin-Manix over the Para. But that is just MY preference.

I asked this about 2 weeks ago. Most said to get the Manix, even with the extra weight. I don't have a knife shop that keeps them, so I could not hold them in my hand.

After alot of research, I got the Manix. If weight is a big concern, you may consider the para.

From all my research it appears that the Manix is one of the best cutting tools you can buy. It cut as well as a large Sebenza - A $400+ knife. Most consider it one of the best values in tactical folders. Mine will be in Monday and I will post my first impressions.

I would have made a simliar post. I much preferre the Manix 83mm over the Para.

I don't have a mini or a para (used to own a para). I'd like to try out a mini sometime. Didn't like the para. I carry my Manix, often, so out of the 2 that I've owned, I'd say Manix.

I have all three, Para, Manix, Mini Manix.
If you need a moose of a knife the Manix is for you.
If you want a smaller moose the Mini is for you.
If you want a strong but thin and light folder the Para is for you.
As others have said, if weight is an issue the Manix's may be a bit weighty.
I like the Para's compression lock (strong), also you can "flick" it open.

tough to chose, good luck

ok im really leaning towards the mini manix but i just wanted to knw how thickthe handle is compared to para like will it be a hinderence and is
it to large for every day carry lastly the para tip look weak and there is apperently blade movement any thought on that thanks heaps i knw im being overly caustious but i just want a decent working knife that i can rely upon

zeping,
Congrats, you will love the Mini.
By the way, my Para's blade locks rock solid and the tip is quite strong. Later you may want one. Spyders are hard to resist.

Just got my manix and I love it. I went for the full size version and it certainly is FULL SIZE!!! I wanted a big, strong knife, which is why I got the Manix. If I was going to EDC it and bring it to work I may try the Mini. What a problem to have.

I want a Para so bad, any of you guys want to get rid of it since you don't like it :p Yeah, both are nice knives, What sells me on the para is the compression lock. I have too many backlock knives so when I get the cash a black blade para is in my future.

I have had the Para in my pocket everyday for several months now. I love this knife. It is light and yet very strong. Great blade steel. For me, it is the clear winner for a EDC knife. I know other feels differenly, but the Para is a great package!!

I have a manix and a paramilitary. The manix is too big for me to carry in my front pocket but I prefer it anyway. The manix fits my hand much better, I just carry it in my back pocket. When I have to carry a smaller knife, then I carry a lil temperance. Even smaller, then it's a small sebenza. My sebenza doesn't hold an edge like the spyderco knives do which is a shame. As far as I'm concerned the manix and temperance are some of the best folding knives ever made.

But which is the stronger one? The Para or Mini-Manix.

Mostly for abuse like twisting the blade on/in wood and stuff but also a lil bit of prying. It also has to perform for bushcraft and camping chores. I think the Mini-Manix over the Pare because of the full steel liner. The Para is ‘only’ G-10.

I will buy one of these knifes ones for outdoor holydays. That means travelling true sheeply and urban Europe where carrying a fixed blade gets you into trouble. But which one can you recomend?

For the duties you mentioned, the Mini-Manix would be the better knife. But honestly, neither of these knives would be my first choice for that type of use. Neither knife has a particularly strong tip. If I were going to pry and twist the tip on a Spydie, I'd go for the Endura4.

i have the Mini manix, manix, and military but no para. yes the manixes are hefty but i dunno about you guys but i can EASILY EDC it without being "weighed down". i really don't get this weight issue. it's not THAT big a difference IMO. the worst thing about the manixes are that when closed the leaf shaped blade makes the whole package very wide, thus bulky. not its weight but its width bothers me a bit.

that said i LOVE the manixes' handle ergos. it feels better to me. more secure. and the choil is deeper/more secure and thus more useful IMO.

i say go with the MINI MANIX!!!

I'll cast my vote to the Mini-Manix.
Both are nice knives but I just don't like the Compression-lock.
If the Para was a lock-back that might change things.

The Manix is by far a stronger knife with dual SS liners and uses Spyderco's strongest locking mechanism (probably the strongest out their). I own Mils, ParaMils, and both Manix's. For heavy duty tasks, I use a Manix or Chinook as the last think one wants when twisting is a lock breaking. The Manix does have a stronger tip, although I have chipped it on my full size once on a rock.
