Which is better utility bayonet

I also agree with John about the Ontario Marine bayonet. I was issued one and it definitely worked as a knife as it's made with the same steel and presumably the same heat treat as the Kabar style Ontario combat knife. It can cut, scrape, pry, and pierce like any other large combat knife.
Yes, both 1095 and both 55-57 Rockwell. The OKC3S is a beast, excellent piece of kit.

They can be sharpened up, just don’t expect for it to hold an edge for very long. Many of them can also be used as throwing knives.

The steel in my M7 bayonets doesn't seem to be too bad. Plus they wouldn't be too difficult for someone to keep sharpened in the field with a stone. I didn't buy them to be used as a knife but they would be ok in a pinch.

If it looks like a knife and works like a knife…? Just ordered one myself… and it won’t be a display queen! I have every confidence it will perform every bit as well as a field knife as it would as a bayonet. Pretty sure the USMC wouldn’t be issuing them otherwise. What do I know, I was Navy… lol

Since this got pulled up.... not aware of any Glock M71 bayonet. They do make the FM 78 and 81 field knives though...which can be mounted on the Steyr AUG rifle with its hollow handle, so could be used like a bayonet.

Love the idea of collecting bayonets but can’t imagine a scenario where I’d want to use one. So many nice commercial fixed-blade knives to choose from. Used to have a small collection of bayonets but currently only own a 1907 pattern, simply because it came with my Irish contract 1905 SMLE. The spine is so thick. It would be like sharpening a splitting maul.
