I would have to say that I like the Emerson CQC7 over the Benchmade CQC7 for a couple of reasons.

First, you can't have warranty work done on the Benchmade because it has been discontinued. You can take apart the Emerson because it uses normal screws not torx screws. The G-10 is better rounded on the Emerson and the beadblasted blade finish is much nicer. As for overall quality, the knives are similar. The Raven is similar to the CQC7 in blade but it has a kydron handle instead with a good guard but a not so good butt end.

You may also ask yourself whether you want the chisel ground or double ground blade.

Overall the knife is a solid knife and many people are really satisfied with it. Another good buy may be a Commander.

Mickey77,
I think what Spark is trying to say is that it is bad "netiquette" to post the same question over and over again. Particularly in the same forum. It really isn't necessary here to post the same question with three different headings. Somebody will answer you. This is a good place to come for information, so you've come to the right place. You might just try altering your methods a little bit. I hope you find the knife that is right for you.

Them:"What's that clipped to your pocket, a beeper?"
Me:"Uuh....yeah, something like that."

Greetings Jason. I' ve also found that it is more convenient to adjust the standard philips and flat screws that are used on the Emersons but I' m not sure if Emerson honors any warrantee if one takes it apart. Or am I mistaken in how I read your post?

And yes the edgeds of the G10 scales are more comfortable.

No, Emerson encourages you to take apart the knife and clean it if you have to. It was Benchmade's policy to void the warranty if you take apart one of their knives.

Hope this helps,

You are not even kidding that it would void the warranty of a Benchmade! Whew...

I literally had a dozen Benchmades, that is a nice hunk of change for a user, not a collector.

I had a problem with a BM Stryker, and was amazed to find it had 4 different kinds of screws on it! Yes, four! I know it takes a couple different kinds of screws to put a knife together, but this thing had different screws for the same application...arrrgggghh Went on the BM Forum one day, asked them why...they just ignored me...that and other reasons...I sold/traded them all.

But I found something that whoops every folder made as far as speed of deployment goes...The Mighty Emerson Commander.

With Emerson knives, you do not need a tool box full of Allen this or Torx that, all you need is a damn Swiss Army Knife or a Gerber Multi-Tool, something simple, to work on these knives...and I have taken the Commander apart and it is very easy to re-assemble. No need to buy yet another different alien tool, or the same thing in a different size to work on the Emerson Knives...and you can take them apart without the fear you will be left in the dark.

Sounds like one hell of a nice concept to me, simplicity and functional craftsmanship.
