OK! we are always talking about the Spyderco's we like and the Military always gets high marks, It is my number 1 go to knife. Now there is several versions with different kinds of steel and handle slabs.

My vote is going for the CF BG-42 as the best overall Military Model.

It looks good and has a great steel that is not hard to re-sharpen, yes I like the foliage green D2 but the steel for me is not as user friendly as the BG-42. I do know but have heard that the new S90V can be a bear to re-sharpen. S30V is good but to me not as good as the BG-42.

So again my vote goes for CF BG-42. The Best Military out there.

Which is your Favorite and why?

I have to vote for the S90V. Same CF handle as the BG-42, with a blade that actually stays sharp through a long day's work for me. It does take longer to resharpen, but at least that is a task for after the job is complete. It is the first Military that I am seriously considering buying a back-up for.

I like the S90V steel model the best I haven't had any problem sharpening & I own every steel type. I don’t let any knife get to dull just a few swipes on a glass rod & good to go.
My vote goes for the CF-S90V

The Millie that is on your person.

I have to agree with that...

actually, my personal favourite has a S90V blade on a BG-42 version CF handle (better fit & finish, perfect inserted lanyard tube, etc)

I'd say that the $117 D2 model represents one of the best values out there, and I'm very pleased with mine. Stays sharp for a long time, easy to sharpen.

That being said, if it wasn't a gift from my mom, I'd probobly be scheming on trading it for one of the CF models :-p

I think the question isn't so much "which version of the Millie is the best?" I think it's more like "which version of the Millie ISN'T the best??" Each one I own is incredible in my opinion. I love 'em all equally!! It's like when you have kids. They're all in the same family and they all may be a bit different, but to be a truly great parent, you must love them all the same!!:D

For all around use doing the kinds of things I do, I still haven't found anything that beats S30V. I have a D2 Millie and a BG42 one, but they both sit NIB because the old S30V that I started with works so well for me.

With the exception of my G10 Caly 3, everything I carry and use now is S30V.

I have a BG-42 CF and a S90V CF, would not want to part with either one. I don't know why, but I carry the BG-42 more than the S90V. Both are very sharp.

I have both the S90V and BG42 version. I carry the S90V daily and it seems to stay sharp a tad longer during a heavy day of cutting, opening packing, breaking down boxes, and chopping plastic banding. I've put both through their paces for my needs and found the S90V is "best" for me. That said, can't really go wrong with any version of it. I think it's probably one of the best knives of all time. Only thing I'd like is the ability for tip-up carry...

Since I have only one it would be my favorite. It helps that it is in my pocket presently, whoa, now it's on the desk. CPM S30V G-10 and, like many of you, I don't let it get dull so scary sharpness is always near at hand.

My favorite is the Spyderco Forums version from a number of years ago with the pearlized inlayed Spydie emblem.
