What the hell are you talking about?

Funny and interesting. This is (IMO) a good example of the complexity of a problem overly simplified by some members who overly simplify what they disapprove of. There IS a problem, but it is NOT so easily diagnosed (by those who think instead of react). ;)Thanks.

Ty, I thought you had figured it out...I'm disappointed...
It's really quite simple...

LOL Mecha... they all "gateway" knives in one form or another.

Gotta make it down to your neck of the woods soon. Word has it there's some decent Brick and Mortar stuff going on there.

And I want an Alox Rambler.

I'm down in Eugene at the moment. There is a knife store near me called "Edge n' Knife" that has a lot of blades crammed into its small space.

Dang... your originally listed locale is such an easier commute.

Oh, and Sonnydaze and Katanas... Tyler is right... I've found drunks at last call way easier to understand than you two goofballs.

Mecha, they got an Alox Rambler there?

I will check for you and report back! The place is only a few blocks from my workshop.

Always had Vic's, it just seemed to me that they were made better except for the scissors design. That or an Opinel. :D

Who makes this? Is this a wenger symbol?

I believe Swiss Gear is owned by Wenger, yes.

"Will the real Swiss Army Knife please stand up?"

If you recognize the context of this fake quote, you probably are old enough to have carried a Swiss Army Knife to school without getting in trouble.

Zieg

Or fall in the middle of young/old enough to wonder if you were referring to the game show "To tell the truth" or the Eminem song "The real Slim Shady".

I voted both since the Swiss govt. commissioned both to fulfill military contracts.

First of all, what is the Q knife?

Secondly, that Swiza knife looks alright....not sure about the unspecified 440 stainless steel blade though.

Victorinox. Cuz that's what MacGyver carried when I was a kid! I have almost all of them, and carry an alox pioneer daily.
I do have 3 Wenger watches though...

MacGyver also used Wenger on more than one occasion in the show, just saying.
Both are the original, form a historical point of view, like the automatic gun from Hiram Maxim and Richard Gatling being the original machine guns.

Apparently the folks at Edge n' Knife are staunch anti-Victorinoxians and unapologetic Wengerites. All of their SAKs are Wengers.

The closest thing to an alox rambler was this neat little knife, with a nice fat pocket clip:

They had a snowboarder Wenger with snowboard tools, a couple golf Wengers (one was green!), SAKS with push-button locking blades, and some other strange ones, including a big one with a small set of pliers built-in.

Then there was this freak of nature with slightly orangish scales:

They have one blade, and a bronze or brass scraper thing. Anybody know what this SAK tool is for?

I'm fairly certain the first and original manufacturer of SAK-style knives born and bred in Switzerland was none other than Mantis Knives.

Read a book, y'all.

The "Q knife" was a knockoff SAK that seemed to appear everywhere in the 80s. They were very cheap and were the alternative to a real Swiss Army Knife for many younguns. I had one for a while, but when I finally got a real Swiss version the difference in quality and performance in every way was astounding, even to a little kid.

Recently found my old one 1950 ? My Cub Scout knife apparently.
Hoffritz, Switzerland, Stainless
Victoria, Officier , with cross bow
Can opener has cross [Swiss type ] and PAT. [patent ]

Don't know if Hoffritz is still around but they imported lots of cutlery and gadgets .

Gateway knife! :D

Hoffritz is still around but joined into a large kitchen gadget/supply company.

Apparently the SAK's non-threatening presence (good for dampening parent-noia), high level of non-stabby utility, and typical candy red scales is part of a Swiss conspiracy to get people hooked on their knives and products at a young age. Like with the Coke and Pepsi machines installed in schools, ensuring a lifetime of brand loyalty.

I've seen that Qknife before. Not in real life but in videos showcasing particularly bad knives.

When you're a kd though, even if it is a low quality knife, I bet you loved it. ;)

Which model is the knife with the clip?

The one on the bottom with the oval body almost looks like they didn't finish grinding the blades.
