So now that the NMFBMs have arrived for some of us I have a request. I was wondering if the members that own the different varieties of the FBM (CG,LE,NM,FF) could write a mini synapses of each and how they compare (pros, cons, weight, balance, etc). I am sure everyone has their favorite and why they prefer one over the others, so let hear them

FFFBM ... The meltdown treatment does not do it for me. The talon holes just don't look right in result. The FFFBM also seems to bee a better size for me. I rather have a blade 2in. shorter and .32 in. thick

I'm with Uncle Jarvis on this one, as much as I like the added size of the NMFBM, the actual "meltdown" isn't my thing, and I generally try to avoid hand shaped handles. I prefer my handles machined/textured.

I'm going to go with the FBM LE as my all time favorite FBM. It still stands up as the most all-around pleasing FBM as far as I'm concerned!

I vote for the NMFBM. Neither the mag nor standard grips on my FBM's feel as nice in hand as the hand shaped grips. The mags are way too blocky for me and the std's feel thin. I don't have an FFFBM so I can't judge against them. I am a big fan of the extra inch and a half of blade and prefer the looks of no cbt's. It is also the best two edges of any Busse's I have received directly from the shop or company store. I wouldn't pay extra for the meltdown but in hand it feels nice.

FBMLE from the factory  My all time favorite is my modded FABM.

Of the FBMs it is the simple CGFBM with standard micarta slabs.

.

Of the FBMs, I only own CGs and FFBMs, as my NMFBM isn't here yet. I prefer the FFBM. The FFBM is heavier and more blade heavy than the CG, but that I see as only a good thing. Something as large as the FBM is a dedicated chopper, and a dedicated chopper ought to chop as well as possible, and the FFBM just plain chops better. Sure, the FFBM is heavier and because of that more awkward for small tasks, but the CGFBM is already awkward for small tasks, so they're both poor choices for those tasks. For chopping, both are good, but the FFBM is better. I'm not concerned with belt carry, as I'd never carry a monstrously large knife like the FBM on my belt.

C'mon guys... there really is only THE ONE. :p

And I'm not speaking from the perspective of a one-horse (one-hog?) kind of guy.

I'll give Tony credit for being close. :D

The two CGs above (green linen and snake) are both standard slabs.

Yea I like that FFFBM a lot... Prob. a reason why they still fetch a premium price .... all around good stuff here .. Wish I had one...

Not really a FFBM. The 2007 SE is a nice compromise between the CGs and the Fatties. To me, it feels just right in hand. Everybody's going to be different though.

I think (a) their uniqueness in design (fatter than a CG, thinner than a FFBM), combined with (b) the fact that there aren't that many of them, are the two qualities that keep their prices high. The saber grind doesn't hurt either.

Interesting , so the FBM SE is like .27" thick or something... Similar to a HHFSH ??

Well, I tried a FFBM and a CGFBM. Even though I haven't had a NMFBM, I'm pretty sure my all-time favorite Battle Mistress is my venerable BM-E!!!

But, then, I loves the ergos for my little girly hands!! :D

I have a CGFBM, a FFBM, a FBMLE and a NMFBM. The NMFBM is my favorite by far. I like the length, the balance, the hand-shaped handles, and the shape the best out of all of the recent mistresses. I'm a big fan of the NM treatment. And the best thing is, the thing hits like a JDAM. You really have to use one to appreciate the POWER!

The NMFBM is the Best. Mistress. Evah!!!!!!!
