Easy question for me..., if the original question is "Favorite Production Balisong".
Model 45..., no contest!
Like many.., I love the Custom Bowies Jody made "In the Day"..., but I don't think a better "PRODUCTION" Balisong has been made to date than a nice "45".
Some of the Custom Wee-Hawks are to-die-for in my opinion..., and my checking account has died for a few. The balance and over-all utility across domains of the blade are really something. Even though I have several custom Wee-Hawks.., I never seem to be able to part with one.
There certainly are more exotic grinds and we all like the "artiste" touch of course..., but it's tough to beat the old 45's for balance, function, and a common sense approach to this style knife.
I'm also not discounting the 48 in saying this. It's a great knife!!!
I also think in the "Production" realm it is a great one! I just happened to fall in love with the Wee-Hawk design early, so I'm not looking for a fight about utilitarian use....the "45" is just a personal preference with dynamics that work for me. It would obviously be difficult to take the original 48 design to new heights and into the custom domain..., but it would be a close second for me if anyone wants to argue.
For all of us that have an inordinate number of these knives.., it is simply a reality. Some knives we like and want simply because we are "Balisong Nuts"..., and some we like simply because we truly know the design is utilitarian and purposeful. These dynamics depend primarily upon whether we actually use our knives..., or collect them as investments. Both the 45 and 48 fit the "Ultimate User" category for me personally.
Probably the most honest answer I could give to this thread.., is that if I could only have (1) "Production" Balisong.., it would be a Model 45..., and if I could only have (1) "Custom"...it would be a Wee-Hawk.
