Ok, ok. I’m done. I sidetracked because it is hard to pick just one.
 
I have many that have been favorites for a while at one time or another, but the true constant companion since I got it is a simple Victorinox silver alox Cadet. If I am going out anywhere, I am carrying that knife. I may be carrying something else too, but I have that Cadet. It is sitting in front of me at my desk right now. I carried it earlier today when I was running some errands.

I like, use, and carry others, but that one is just there for me as a steady companion. I don't really feel a deep emotional connection to it. It's just a great tool that I don't like to be without. I have a few spares in case I ever lose it. They've doubled in price since I bought them about 10 years ago, though.

My knife for those scenarios needs to be a fixed blade. CPM 3V made to my specs by my friend Charlie Bell is my best.

My Greatest Of All Time would undoubtedly be this old Uncle Henry 885. I bought it in 1970 & carried it every single day for about 30 years before I retired it. It wore out the right front pocket of many a pair of jeans.

I don't know if I really have a proper answer to that, but I can tell you that my favorite Buck model is the 305.
And this 1989 305 in Stag is my favorite 305.

There's a reason I have 8 305 Lancers and counting, but I'm not sure I can call it my absolute favorite knife across the board because the blades are SS and not carbon steel.
 
I gotta have a jumbo trapper in my pocket. For my needs a drop and big spey serve very well though I suppose I could get by without the spey if I needed to. For years it was a big yellow Camillus but nowadays it’s a GEC 23. I even have a spare 23 in case of emergency.
