Which Kershaws' do you just not like? Why?

I can't stand the thumbstud on my Vapor II; it's the earlier version with the crazy-pointy Devo hat stud. Hurts my thumb if I look at it wrong.

I don't like the Chive simply because I find it too small to close safely and reliably when battling the Speedsafe spring. I'd "manual it", but I have enough other knives to keep me busy so it sits in a drawer for now.

And finally, while I've never used one, the JYD clip makes me want to go to bed early. That thing is hideous. The rest of the knife is lookin' pretty good, but the clip looks like a wing torn from a mechanized bat. Like a lot of Snody's older designs (I know he didn't design the JYD, but the clip reminds me of his stuff), I find it far too "gothic". No thanks.

Now, the Leek: there's a beauty of a knife. Light, elegant, refined... even inexpensive! My only wish would be for a fully wharncliffed model; ditch the belly. That'd be amazing.

So far, I only own a Scallion with 420HC plain edge assisted opener for $40. And I love it as an EDC. I bought it specifically for the small size (local bylaws) but there are a couple of things I would change about it.

First is the liner lock. Personally I much prefer the spine locks for keeping my fingers away from the blade while it is closing. (I know this is 99% on the operator for safety but I do lend my knife out)

Second is the handle material. I do like it, but I have a Byrd Caracara1 with the G-10 handle that I am VERY fond of (My work EDC)

And last is the pocket clip. I am forced to carry it in my left pocket (I'm right handed) tip up. Since it is an assisted opener, I prefer to have the blade against the back seam of my pocket when closed, as added security againt it opening accidentally in my pocket. I've already had this happen once when I pulled it out, the blade was already partially opened, and the spring finished opening it as soon as I took it out of my pocket.

But that said, I plan on keeping and using this knife for a long time to come. I am by no means jaded against Kershaws. In fact, I intend on purchasing many more. But I am looking for recommendations on replacing this one as a small (Under 3inch) EDC. Probably going to look seriously at the Byrd Robin, Meadowlark, or Crow.

I really didn't like the Tilt. All that carbon fiber and Titanium, the Wharncliffe blade, and the smooth opening style. pffft! I tried like hell to get one from all sorts of places, but failed. Who needs one anyway...

/sad
/jealous of those with the Tilt

Blur tanto flat out sucks! Mine has so much blade play it's not useable

Bladeforums is about discussion. The OP was quite specific when starting this thread. Please read below, and in the future try to stay on topic.

Oh and perhaps you need to tighten the piviot screw? Warranty is also available.

Hi, this is intended as an informational thread to potential Kershaw knife purchasers. Please list a knife (or more) and then explain what about that knife made it go into your trade/sell drawer and not become an edc. Lets make the explantions more about the ergonomics and overall feel of the knife, not just a rare quality control issue. This is NOT a bash Kershaw thread, if you want to do that, do it elsewhere...

Dislike the Kershaw Chill blade is to long and no belly on the blade super dull out of the box

Sharpness aside, 3 1/8" is too long?? And no belly? It's not like it's anywhere close to a wharncliffe. Are you sure you're talking about the right knife?

I've got a Select Fire and, like many others have said about Kershaw Knives: there are things I love and things I don't like. I love that the clip is reversible (lefty here), and that the driver uses standard size bits (can't stand Leatherman's proprietary bits - for a tool to be practical, I have to be able to replace a lost/broken bit at any hardware store). What I hate about it is that the bit driver is floppy as hell. It's near impossible to put any pressure on a stuck screw without the driver folding back into the handle. And, on a personal preference note, I wish it was a lockback or axis lock. Liner locks aren't really ambidextrous.
