Which knife company....least/most liked?

Now thats a touchy question, but I have an opinion. My personal preference is the smooth, clean, crisp blade of the Spyderco family, and my least fav would be the wobbly, dull, cheap made Frost Cutlery. I know thats probably harsh, but surely I'm not alone here.

RattlerXX

There are many fine knives out there, and I would like to own at least one of every one of them.

i have many favorites but my least favorite would be those pakistani pieces of junk you see at gun shows and the HSN. you know the ones with the pewter (or, may as well be) blades with no company names? i think frost imports them.

Favorite?: So many, but tops would be BM, MT, Chris Reeve(now a manufacturer) and William Henry Knives
Least favorite?: I agree with the prior posts that Frost is substandard, but what can you expect when HSN sells you 50 knives for $59.95? There is no free lunch

Favorite: Himalayan Imports; great product, price and service. Essentially a "Custom" knife at manufacturer's prices and unequalled customer service.
Least: Frost; for all the already mentioned reasons.

Not sorry to say that as of yet my experiences with knife companies are all favorable. The companies that have treated me the best are Chris Reeve Knives and Spyderco.

Least favorite: Wenger. I don't know why, but I've NEVER liked Wenger SAKs. I know it's not rational, because lots of folks in the know swear by them, but their design symmetry just seems shoddy to me. Make mine a Victorinox anyday.

Smith & Wesson.

They plop their name on a POS and market them as if they were quality. Deceitful, but then again that seems to be a trend with these guys.

Hey guys how about a S&W forum?

NOT!

My favorite as of today is Spyderco.

Benchmade is better now... see edit below

I don't really have a least favorite right now. S&W are certainly towards the bottom of the list though. Along with the multitude of cheap import companies that sell knives for a dollar a piece.

EDIT---Just talked to Travis @ Benchmade last night. We discussed a few things, and I have a renewed faith in Benchmade. I try to keep an open mind, and by looking at some things through another perspective I see they have a point to some of their business ideas. So.... Benchmade is just right behind Spyderco now for the favorite spot.

I have generally had good experiences with knife companies. If I had to pick a favorite I guess it would be Victorinox. I have never known them to offer a bad design or a bad blade. And they offer consistantly outstanding customer service.

I have to give an honorable mention to Kershaw for the amazing job they have done in producing the Ken Onion series. You just can't beat their price/performance ratio. These are custom-quality knives at less than a fifth of what I would expect to pay. I love my Boa!

I can't really name a least favorite. I've never met a Wegner SAK that I liked, but I'm not sure whether that's really a matter of quality or just my taste.

Favorite overall would have to be Spyderco, with Al Mar running a close second.
The worst would have to be Emerson. At least Frost knives are low quality cheap knives....

My favorites as a dealer would have to be Chris Reeve, Pro-Tech, Microtech, CRKT. That applies to their product and my relationship with them. Least favorite...hard to say.becuase I do not sell too many knives that are not favorites of mine.....but I'm on the bandwagon with S&W dislikes like everyone else.

Mike T. You would not have enough space for the trashing in a S&W forum

I like the idea of a S&W forum. Lessee, who could we get for moderator? Maybe Gunner would come back and handle it?

Favorite company? Given all the great stuff that has been coming out of Camillus lately, I have to put them at the top of the heap. And maybe CRKT as next.

Worst? Mainland China (is that a company?).

Btw, no offense meant to the Chinese. I'm sure they would prefer NOT to be prison labor in factories.

I get some pleasure from finding a relentlessly peaceful use for a combative looking knife.

Favorites: Spyderco, Cold Steel, CRKT - great customer service, great products, very "user friendly" people.

Un-Favorites: Benchmade, Camillus - great products, but their customer service SUCKS! Try to get a straight answer out of either company and you're in for a day long phone call.

All in my humble opinion.

Hey Charlie Fox, not disagreeing with you, but have you ever posted in the Camillus forum? Will Fennell is usually right there with an extremely helpful answer. I too really like Spyderco, don't care much for Benchmade -- I've just always found BM's quality to be too inconsistent (though I haven't bought one in at least two years).
