Which knife company....least/most liked?

Most liked, a tie between Himalayan Imports and Microtech. They are both the best at what they do.

Least liked:
S&W junk........or of course Frost, but that goes without saying.

My 2 favorites are Emerson and Spyderco, least favorites, "Buy a sack of junk, I mean knives for 10.99. Oh and S&W. I handled a S&W knife at a gun shop, LOL what a piece of junk.

My 2 favorites are Benchmade, and Camillus.

I do agree that Benchmade 's customer service is spotty, but they sure change their tune when you post your opinion on their forum!!!

I have no complaints with Camillus. Both the knives I own from them are absolutely great!!!

My least favorite??
Cold Steel.
Too much hype, and not enough 'knife'.
Kraton blows chunks.

My favorites are Camillus, Spyderco, and Buck all make good quality product and, in my experience, outstanding customer relations.
Charlie Fox, you can post here and speak more or less directly with Joe Houser, Sal Glesser, Darrell Ralph and Will Fennell and a host of others too numerous to name most any day. I have received personal replies from several of these fine gentlemen on questions that I had. I have had input on the forthcoming Buck Bladeforums 501 and we convinced Will Fennell to make us up some edc's in 154cm. This is a change to a model that noone has yet. If that isn't customer service, I don't know what is.

My favorite. Any Spydie. I also like Kershaws. Always tight, no blade play, good edge and, most important, moderate prices.

Least: (Sorry guys)Buck! Still haven´t purchased one single folding Buck without that annoying blade play. And I have 5 of them! Guess I never learn

I like Camillus, the probably Buck tied with Gerber.

Least favorite is probably Spyderco

Just saw a totally cheap rip off of a Kershaw spring assist folder today. I think it was Jaguar but can't be sure. It even had the same 3 holes cut into the blade! Talk about blantant acts.

Top of my list is...

  • Chris Reeve
  • Spyderco
  • Microtech
  • W.Henry

Bottom of the list...

  • Pretty much anything from Frost, which includes the S&W items...See note

Note:
S&W has sold their name to alot of POS items which is sad...Profit over reputation I guess. Other than their guns the only other item in their line up which has the quality is their handcuffs, which I have plenty. I collect handcuffs.

Remember, this post was about companies, not their actual products. A hair splitting distinction I admit but consider my two favorite companies, CHRIS REEVE KNIVES and BUCK. They are on opposite ends of the price spectrum, but they are both great COMPANIES.

The other end, and I like some of their knives, are those companies who cheaps out on quality control but is not bashful about pricing, you know who you are. (i couldn't BegintoMention 'cause EveryKniveIsdifferent.)

Then there's 'ol S&W (Switch & Waffle). We could open a Forum and get Jane Fonda and Mrs. Brady to moderate.

As far as my favorite Knife Company, it would have to be Spyderco. Why, you ask (OK you didn't but let's pretend)? I think that the best way to evaluate a man or a company is by what others say about them. I haven't heard a bad word spoken about Sal Glesser or Spyderco. What particularly impressed me about Spyderco though was the management philosophy of the company espoused in the book, "The Spyderco Story, The New Shape of Sharp" by Kenneth T. Delavigne. It sounds like the best place in the world to work - pro-product, pro-customer, and pro-employee. I think you would be hard-pressed to top the innovations that Spyderco has brought to market, the quality of the knives and customer service, and the committment to the industry as a whole that is expressed in their philosophy.

My favorites would have to be Microtech and Benchmade.

My least favorite would have to be Paragon.

They aren't all they're hyped up to be.

Best: Al Mar, Spyderco, Moki, G Sakai, Randall

Worst: All of those $10 crap knife imitations. Some guy at work sees one of my blades and come back the next day with some POS copy. And with a big grin on his face proclaims that it was only $9.99
Makes me want to cry. A disgrace to us truly comitted to knifoholism.

PS
First I thought you guys talked about Frosts of Sweden
smile.gif
They might be a little expensive in the US (3 times the price in Sweden) but they are not crap. But then I saw the Frost you obviously aimed at. Now I figure...

My favorite companies right now are Spyderco and CRKT, quality knives at fair prices.
S&W and Frost are also my choice for the bottom of any list.

My current fave company is Spyderco and my least (even below United Cutlery and frost) would be Bear MGC.
