Which knife do you prefer for EDC?

I'd probably go for the D4, simply because I like a nice, thin knife that disappears in the pocket. The mini-grip feels nicer in the hand, and the steel's great, but I just like thin.

I like the mini Grip better. I like the CM154 better than VG10 and I like the feel of the knife better.

The Delica and most Spyderco's look cheap to me. It is like they are trying to macho instead of just a useful tool. Don't flame me cause this is just my opinion and I fully respect your right to disagree.

I would chose the Delica, hands down. I have always found the ergos of the Spyderco thumb-holes easier and quicker to use than any thumb-stud I have ever tried. I have never had any problems with VG-10 steel either. Theoretically, other steels may have supperior performace in one area or another, but VG-10 is just a great all-around steel that has never disappointed me. Finally, the Delica rides much easier in the pocket for me, too.

If you can buy locally but cant necesarrily get them into your hands at the store I suggest buying both, seeing which one is more comfortable and you like better in the hand and return the one you dont like.

I carried a Delica for over 10 years and liked the D4 even better when it came out- but a 556 has been in my pocket since the day I got it about 5 years ago. Its still tight but I got a spare last month "just in case". I may send one to Tom Krein to check out one of his grind jobs.

I've bought an awful lot of knives in that time and nothing has knocked that Mini Grip out of its EDC spot.

Tough choice, get both. If I could only have one I would choose the mini grip. I just seem to like it a little more, both are great knives though. You cant go wrong either way

thank you all for your comments/info/recommendations
I decided on the Mini-Grip i followed most of your recommendations and went to a sporting goods store and handles both, both felt great but the benchmade felt so smooth and i like the more rounded handle, it may be a little more uncomfortable to carry (thats what i heard) but i believe it will be worth it
can't wait until my mini-grip comes in the mail

once again thank you all and have a great day

If you had to choose between a Benchmade 556 Mini-Griptilian ($60, 154CM steel) or a Spyderco Delica 4 ($50, VG-10) for EDC, which would you choose and why?

I have both. I like both. Either one is a pleasure to carry and use. The mini-grip gets more pocket time. I'm not sure I can tell you why.

Love Spyderco, but prefer the Mini Grip over the Delica. The Delica Wave vs the Mini Grip would make it a closer call for me.

I have small hands, but I find the mini-grip too small and the Delica almost perfect. Get the full SE!

id go for the best of both worlds and get the 555 minigrip, its been my EDC for almost a year now

Congrats on your purchase.

I myself would have went with the Delica had I not bought my Mini-Grip on impulse if I were deciding between the 2. I know you like the fullness of the handle but that is the reason I do not EDC it any more. Feels too thick in the pocket. I like the slenderness of the Delica in the pocket. Hell, I'd probably carry my Endura 4 before my Mini-Grip, but that's just me.

I do have to agree with the Axis Lock speed and smoothness!

Have both.. carry both.. Delica is thinner but Benchmade is shorter. I carry Delica in waistband and forget it is there.
