Hello! I've always been a fan of knives, but I don't know too much about them. I am in a pretty good predicament where I have some cash to spend on Sierra Trading Post, but I can't decide which knife to get or which is best.

I'm only looking at folding knives that are under $100 that are on this site.

Which is best? Which would you get? (they only have 3 pages to look through, and only a few are folding knives.

I compared the steel between several of them by googling the different steels, and they all seem pretty comparable in terms of quality.

Some of the blades I'm looking at there are:
Wusthof Folding Hunting Knife - Straight Edge, Lockback, Sheath - 440HC

Byrd by Spyderco Meadowlark 2 Folding Knife - 8Cr13MoV

Browning Escalade Folding Knife - 440C

Bear and Son Cutlery Frame Lock Pocket Knife - Damascus Blade, Red Stag Bone - "damascus steel"

Hopefully you experts can tell me which knife you think is best!

Welcome to Bladedorums.
The Tech Support section is used to discuss issues related to the website, memberships, and other such topics.
Let's see if we can get this moved over to the correct forum for you.

What is your intended use for the knife? Something for everyday use? Are you interested in something with a smaller blade or larger style? If you can provide some details, we can narrow it down for you.

Here is a list of some of the knifeshops and other stores that support Bladeforums with memberships. They have a very extensive catalog of items to buy as well.

Unfortunately Sierra Trading Post isn't on the list and linking to them outside this subforum might cause some issues. Jst a heads up.

Back to the knife, I really like Spyderco, Kershaw, Victoninox, Leatherman, Buck, all really good manufacturers with great reputations for quality and service. You can't really go wrong with any of these companies when it comes to everyday carry style knives.

Thanks. I have no intention in advertising the above mentioned site. I just wanted to get an opinion on what people thought the best knife was out of the group. My intentions are just to use the knife as a daily knife to carry around for whatever, I don't ever have a real specific purpose, I just find them handy and would like a quality knife.

Lets say you had a choice of these 3 knives/blade materials, which would you choose?
Byrd by Spyderco - 8Cr13MoV blade
Wusthof Folding Hunting Knife - 440HC blade
Browning Escalade Folding Knife - 440 C blade

I would probably go with either the Spyderco Byrd or the Browning. I haven't heard much one way or another regarding the Wusthof folders. Browning knives are made by Mcusta I belive, in Seki City Japan. Some other options in the $40-$60 range are the Spyderco Native lightweight, Spyderco Delica, Kershaw Blur, or Shallot.

I can't speak for any of those three knives, but in the past I have gotten some excellent deals on Swiss Army Knives, both Victorinox and Wenger, from Sierra Trading Post. Happy shopping!

Since I had a bunch of money to spend on there I thought I'd get a more expensive knife, but am going with the byrd meadowlark 2.

That is a good a choice as any. I have a Byrd knife given to me by a forum friend and it's extremely well made.
