Im looking for something around 200 bucks but i dont really know much about knives in that range. What are your suggestions?

There are plenty good knives in that range from Spyderco.
What kind of specs are you going after?

Can you give us some specifics?
Are you interested in fixed blades or folders?
Modern or traditional?
How big a knife do you like (use blade length, unless you have specific preference for overall length)
For what sort of tasks will you use the knife?
Any specific likes or dislikes?

Lets say the guy just likes knives and has $200 to spare and has no particular use of knives in mind. In that case, I suggest:

- For a big, light, and slicing folder: Spyderco Military cts-204p green g10 knifeworks exclusive.
- For a medium sized folder: ZT 0562 for beefier, or PM2 m390 blue g10 BBS exclusive for lighter
- For a bit smaller sized and super light folder: Benchmade 940-1501 knifeworks exvlusive in cpm 20cv and blue/black g10.

Benchmade Adamas. A lot of knife for your money.

Maybe something from Emerson? Then, if you don't like it, you can sell it to me, for less :D

Entrek Knives does not get a lot of attention here, but they sell the "Strike Point" folder, which is also a big beast with a "less show, more go" look to it.

For a few bucks more, or by buying used, you could get a Southern Grind Spider Monkey. Good shape and size, light weight, premium steel. Titanium liners and carbon fiber scales, so it's got plenty of exotic materials to enjoy.

I think OP wants a fixie. Bark river Aurora lt or LT Wright genesis or TRC bushcraft.

My favorite's in that range are the Bark River Mini Aurora 3V (EDC/Day Hike) and Bradford Guardian 4 (in M390; my primary backpacker). Both are fixed blades.

Other than an old SAK, my cheapest folder is in the $350 range, so I can't help there.

For a folder I'd go with a pm2 or do the benchmade custom configuration site and get a griot griptilian in 20CV or m4
FOR THE PM2, I'd go with Cru-wear, m390,or 204p. I just saw a cru- wear on the exchange for 175

For a modern folder, I'd look at the wide variety that Spyderco or Benchmade has to offer. You'll find something you want.

For traditional design pocket knives, like Barlows, stockmans, etc, visit the "Traditional & Old Timey" sub forum. Lots of choices there to look through.

We're all enablers here & will be only too happy to help you overspend your stated budget, whether it be $100 or $500, once you decide on the style you prefer & the intended use.

Folders: The typical Pm2 and a Recon 1 could both be bought for around $200. I've been hot on ZT lately so I would also say 0452cf or 0562cf, probably pre-owned.

Modern folder up to 8 inches. Used with ropes, plastics and wood. Im really looking at the emerson mini commander for example.
