Which Knife to Cut the String???

3 bladed whittler.
Tell me about another knife that comes in around 3" closed that packs 5" of blades.
(Sometimes the old stuff is still good!) :D.

Fist all seven knives and give that cord a slow death! Gillet has done it with 5 blades.

Best wishes,
Edalb

Edalb is on the right track. Cougar you need to give that string a death by one thousand cuts. First thing is, you will need more knives.

A razor will do but I like to use a stockman.

Keep the spey very thin and sharp, hold the piece with the knot in one hand, pull the end of the cord tight with your teeth, take the knife and gently rock the belly of the spey over the cord.

How about throwing knives? Tie it up so it's in the air and give it the ol' mall ninja treatment.

you obviously need a new knife, since none of the ones handy stand out as thread cutters.

of course, it would be silly to order only one knife, so get a few to reduce shipping per each.

and some sack-ups to store the new blades

do you have enough strop compound, metal polish, pivot lube, and corrosion inhibitor?

you really gotta quit cutting cord, that's an expensive hobby.

You have eight within reach, but which one is in your pocket? That is the DDK (Designated Duty Knife) of the day. That way, you made your choice when you got up in the morning and grabbed a knife for your pocket.

Anyway the DDK method works for me in such situations.

Which pocket?

Cougar, I feel your pain. I have 4 or 5 fixed blades at this desk and at least 10 at the other one. It's not finding a knife thats hard it's figuring out which one of many do we want to use....

You can tie multi-strand knots and use a different knife to cut each strand.

Can you reach some stamps and an envelope? Mail the cord back to the manufacturer and get them to trim the knot. Should be a warranty issue, and even if it's not, just complain about how they failed you as a customer and threaten to post here if they don't rectify the problem...
