Which knife?

Just every day carry stuff. If I don't like a knife, I lose it or toss it into a box.

SAK in the pocket, CS Master Hunter on the belt, ancient Gerber multitool poked into survival kit. Basic (read that "cheap but works fine") stuff.

Nothing so nice and expensive that I am afraid to use it a lot.

Sorry it took so long. I wanted to thank you all for such great responses. I agree that we should already have the items we'll need, which is why everything except our two packs is in the truck. That way all we gotta do is grab and run as they set right next to the front door.

leatherman supertool.

sak trailmaster and assorted saks for trade and such.

cold steel master hunter

a machete or 2

a hatchet and axe if I am driving

I have a stout lock back and a small pocket knife all of the time. In my Fight-My-Way-Home bag I have my Nepali khukri, along with a weapon, food, fire, and incidentals. The Khukri fills the bill for knife, axe, machete, shovel, and hammer. I can start a fire with the karda too.

When the SHTF, first unplug the fan. Then, making a mental note never to try levitating turds again, run for your vehicle. There, you'll have a presciently stashed favored fixed-blade entombed in some Mobil 1 synthetic grease in ABS pipe. On trucks, these are easily cached in the frame rails with some black zip ties. Unit-body car folks, you're on your own. Thusly, if stopped & searched in a large-scale snafu by leos/fedinjas/etc. you should be able to slip by. If nothing else, the spackled **it on your face may make them wave you through.

CS mini khukri, SAK Trailmaster, and a Mora2000 would be my TSHTF combo, along with a folder or two for good measure...

I'd bail with what is on me: two folders (Benchmade and Gerber) and a Natural Outlaw. Given 1/2 second longer, my BOB.
