Fort Payne is my hometown, although I live in Florida now.

Seems like my problem may be solved. My wife and daughter gave me an early birthday gift...a RAT-7 D2. This knife feels really good and looks like a good "chips are down" blade. I can't wait to use it. Thanks for the help...Jim

To avoid the problem with DEET dissolving your plastics, try using the new Cutter Advanced DEET-free insect repellant. It uses a new chemical (picaridin) developed by the Bayer chemical folks and it doesn't dissolve plastic. I'm taking this stuff with me for two weeks in the field and will report back on how it works.

I'm thinking your going to be very happy with the RAT, that or a Becker was to be my recomendation, great knives.
