and pray tell, did you carry a knife to school and what years were you in school?

because you cant take a swiss army knife to a school in TEXAS. I remember in katy (which was only 45 minutes from where I went to high school) a girl got expelled for having a comb that looked like a switchblade.

Depends on the school, I know of a couple of Teachers who carry knives and have let me use theirs, I have been in a class where the teacher asked who in the room had a pocket knife for them to borrow, a descent size percentage of students carry a pocket knife (mostly students who are going to vocational to study trade skills). Now I'm not encouraging the poster to carry a knife to school, that would be ill advised and seemingly pointless, just trying to show different geographical areas have more lenient policy than others.

if you read your state knief laws you will see exemptions, which almost always cover special events and vocational school. for students who attend regular schools, it is illegal 100% all of the time.

and teachers having knives is irrelevant to the OP carrying one himself.

if its legal, by all means carry. but OP is 13 years old, hes still a few years off being able to go to a trade school regardless.

OP - if you haven't realized it yet, the Benchmade/Spyderco debate is totally a Ford/Chevy deal. both are great, both have a strong following. you'll eventually fall into one catagory (hopefully it's BM) and will one day be answering some youngsters question about which to buy LOL

one thing you should think about: once you go with one of the two, you will be likely to turn to them (first) for all your knife needs. so, don't just think about what you need now, look to the Co. that has the most options in ALL catagories (ahem... BM). fixed, folder, auto, you name it they've got you covered. Believe in the Butterfly

p mcmanis, the first thing in my pocket when I get home from school is my becker necker, and the last thing I do before I go to school is take my knives out of my pockets. I am not an ordinary 13 year old, I mean I carry 5 blades with me on the weekends for crying out loud. (necker, byrd cara cara, and my stockman slippie) So to answer you statement, yes I can and yes I do edc both knives and other items such as my zippos, my fenix eo1 flashlight, my t tool and my laser pointer to entertain my dog.
