I was reading Jeff Randall's web site. He is having a survival course in Alabama in which one is allowed the clothes on his back and a knive notot exceed 5" in blade length. While I won't be taking the course(health reasons) but got to thinking about what knive I would take to the course. I thought about my SRk ,but it has a 6" blade. Then I said my Randall #3. Iwas wondering what others would take.

A carbon steel Swedish Mora, 4" blade. One of the best knives for the money you will find.

If I was going to take a survival course from Jeff Randall, I think I would buy HIS survival knife to use.

I get some pleasure from finding a relentlessly peaceful use for a combative looking knife.

Maybe the Becker companion, Busse basic5, any of the puukkos that fit the blade length requirement.

What is this existential quandry all about anyway?

I like Hoodoo's answer! Jeff designed and sells a knife called the Laser Strike. I'd have that on my belt!

I was planning on going on that trip, but won't have the time (not enough vacation), since I may be going to the Phillipines this summer.
I was going to take my Busse Basic #5.

I'm curious as to why he feels the need to place a 5 inch limit on blades?
Will you die lost, cold, and hungry in the wilderness if you carry a 7 inch blade?
It seems rather arbitrary to me.
