Which knot for paracord compression straps?

It doesn't. It works great on some cords, but with paracord, the knot will bind to the outer sheath, and then the outer sheath will slip with respect to all the inner strands, and bunch up. The more load, the worse it gets.

No!!

Gadgets are not replacements for knots. If that things breaks, your done. Also, knots do not limit your load. You can tie them in a shoelace, or tie them in a climbing rope and it is the same thing. Load is determined by the rope, and not the gadget.

I just wanted to clarify this...knots do affect the loadbearing strength of cordage to varying degrees depending on the knot so in that sense they do limit your load. Some knots cut the loadbearing strenth of a cord nearly in half!

Thanks for clarifying. You are absolutely correct. The point I meant was even though the knot is weakening load bearing, it is still the knot/rope which is the limited factor.

Here is an example:

Rope has 1000lb load limit.

With knot, let's say you are now limited to 500lbs. If you need 1000lbs, you can increase to a 2000lb rope.

If a knot contraption has a 250lb load limit, it doesn't matter if you use 500lb, 1000lb, or 2000lb rope. You are limited at 250.

That was my point. But your clarification is very helpful.

I figured that's what you meant and probably most people here would understand you anyway but just in case I thought I would throw that out there, just in case it was somebody who'd never thought much about rope.
