This is a spinoff of my other thread "Which knife locks do you trust the most?" .

Now, I realize that a lot of people either don't care for liner locking knives, don't trust locks whatsoever, only use fixed blades or don't care what kind of locks they use; but let's save 3-6 pages of people typing that in so we can stay on the subject please.

Which specific knife model's liner-lock do you trust the most when compared to other liner-lock knives on the market?

2 that seem to be pretty solid that I've experienced are:
Spyderco Military
Emerson CQC-14

There is no list for me. It's on a case-by-case basis only.

Right now the only linerlock I carry occasionally is a Benchmade Vex. And it could become suspect at any time.

Kershaw's JYD 2 and mini-cyclone, both very solid. Have another Kershaw (whirlwind?) I seldom use mostly because the liner locks tightly but seems a little thin, and is a b!tch to close, real pain in the thumbnail. No liner locks from other makers yet.

I think I would pick the Kershaw JYD2 of the ones that are being made now. Kevin :D

I agree - it depends upon the individual knife itself.
Not any one particular brand, or model.

Also, I don't "trust" any type of knife lock as foolproof.

If I'm using a knife with a locking blade, I'm always aware that the lock may not hold and I use the knife accordingly.

top of the list by far: al mar, spyderco right behind them

bottom of the list as far as quality knives: kershaw- all the onions leek scallion and shallot have locks that only hit 50%. all the ones ive had disengage very easily.

I've had to mention this in the other thread. I'm not saying that by saying a particular knife, you're admitting that you would spine whack it freely. I'm just asking "which you you think does a better job of what it was designed to do?".

Does this post mean that you trust a Chinese liner lock that was made in a sweat shop JUST AS MUCH as a Spyderco Military?

Zero Tolerance and Kershaw...The lock on those won't budge.

My favorite liner lock is probably a Microtech LCC. I carried this one for a long time and used it a lot and it is still very solid.

I know some may laugh, but the best liner lock I've own to date is a CRKT M-16 NON Lawks knife.

That knife has been ROCK solid for me and has not once budged. I've put it through some paces too.

Generally, I've seen excellent liner locks from Benchmade, Microtech, and Moki (their own knives AND the knives they make for Beretta, Al Mar, and others).

Personnaly owned, carried and used, Spyder Millie, Benchmade/Emerson CQC7and MOD Hornet, all these I "trust", especially the Military, with a rounded engagement surface. The CQC7 has been used and abused for years, and the liner still only reaches halfway into the blade's width.

There were a few others, but not good enough to carry and use on a regular basis. A couple of Gerber Applegate/Fairnbarn (both large and mini), a few S&W folders, etc.

The liner locks that I trust the most, are:
A Kevin Wilkins Avalon 3, anything Terzuola, Rick Hinderer, Tom Mayo.....

By pictures and reputation alone though, the Al Mar SERE 2k seems to be the standard.

Only held one but as I've posted some years back, the rock-solid and flush with the handle design on the Black Hawk Blades Crucible folder is about the only liner lock I trust 100%.
