I'm looking at getting a maxpedition pouch for daily carry. The Anemone, M-1 and M-2 are the ones I'm looking at. Here's what I plan to carry:

Cell phone (4"x1.75"x.75")
Flashlight (aprox 4"x1")
First aid kit (5.5"x3.5"x.9") or maybe (4"x2.5"x.875")
Ibuprofen/Aspirin
Jerkey or Granola bar for blood sugar

Out of the 3 pouches I've mentioned, which would you wear? Thanks,

Heber

id wear the m1...just cause by its meaurements it looks like it would hold just what you need plus a little more,,

I have a couple of M2's, and I don't think you would fit all of that stuff in one. They aren't that roomy, frankly, because the material used in their construction is sorta thick, plus you have the divider and so forth taking up space.

Here is a nice review of the M-1.

I'd go with the M1 over the others. I have both M1's and M2's and the M1 can hold all that and a little more (except for your 9" FAK, you'd need to fold it up or repack it in another container).

The front pocket of the M1 is also somewhat expandable, while the one on the M2 is not.

Here are some old pics from when I was messing around with belt pouch based PSKs. They might help you get an idea of what they can hold.

Heber,

I just sent you an E-mail and offered you a trade for (something!) on a M1 or M2 Maxpedition pouch. But in the mail, I ended up saying you would probably be better off with a Tactical Tailor Horizontal E&E Pouch. All of them are excellent rigs though. :D

Gents, thanks for the pictures and recommendations so far. Please keep them coming. So far I'm leaning towards the M-1.

Don, I got your email and will be replying shortly. Thanks,

Heber

The Anemone is smaller than the M1. Here's a side by side of the M1 and M2. I threw in a few items similar to what you were considering. My PSK is a little larger than your FAK dimensions...mine is about 1" x 4.5" x 4" for reference. The phone is a standard Blackberry:

I just put my PSK, small notepad and phone in the M2...I couldn't fit the mini Bic, Nitecore single AA or Farmer SAK in...is was way too tight.

I was able to put it all in the M1...with room for additional smaller flatter items. I forgot the Clif Bar, but it would have fit without any problems as would several small individually wrapped pills (Aspirin, Motrin, etc.).

The M1 is definitely more capable of holding what you're needing. Also, it wouldn't be as crammed as the M2 where you would need two hands to get it out.

Hope that helps,

The Anemone is way too small for what you want to do with it.

Contents:
ACR whistle, Bic lighter, Vaseline Lip Therapy, Firesteel & striker, Chapstick, Suunto 123 compass, Duct tape around old gift card, Fresnel lens, Zebra F-301 Pen, Sharpie Mini, & Midland Weather Radio.

I had an M-2, but sold it because the zipper would not open easily on it. I tried rubbing pencil lead on it hoping it would help, but it didn't. I also thought the zipper was too large for it.

Rock6 and CSSIMS, thanks for the information and pictures. It sounds like if I want to include my regulare first aid kit and such that I should go with the M-1. Looks like the others would fit my mini kit, phone and flashlight but nothing else. Would rather have the extra room of the M-1 so thats what I'm going to go with. Thanks!!

That aqua pouch is a pretty slick system. I see you can buy it with a pre-filter systems that appears to use coffee filters. How does it work?

Awesome pics and reviews guys.
I love both the M-1 and M-2, but I agree the M-2 is probably too small for what you want to do. And if you can trade into one, all the better!

Thanks Lisa! Was hoping you would post in this thread. :)
