Which model is this?

I have one early dagger(not part of the limited 25 pieces) similar to this one. The sheath(white thread) and the para cord are the same to mine. I told by Chris my dagger is a very early dagger pre 1985, maybe 1983~1984. The engraved on your knife is the owner's name IMO: S.J.SLATER, and the number 27 is the serial number of this model, this is the CRK usual practice. I think it's a predecessor of the MK or Jereboam series. I have a 1985 Aviator has the same birthday card, but instead of a tape with new address on the old address same to yours, I guess the address of yours is the original work place, Chris moved to the new place soon, so he pasted a tape with the new address. My aviator made in early 1985, so I can say yours made pre 1985, most likely 1984, I believe it is D2 steel.

Anyway, congratulations to you, nice score, a piece of CRK history. If some day you want to let it go, please let me know. :)

Thanks. I think it is fairly certain now that this model is called the MK III.
Jackal87, nice picture. That serial is #4, so it is the exact knife as the one in the video..and is also a MK III.
MK II from the video was that spear point one. I think the date of about 1984 is correct, but am awaiting confirmation and info from the very nice folks at CRK.

Is that picture from the old SA gun magazine MAN/MAGNUM? I have all of them back to 1976, so will have to go through the 1984/85 ones and see what info I find in them. Pretty sure there were lots of ads and/or articles on Chris Reeve knives.

Timeline seems to have been MK II, MK III and then MKIV and aviator, with full commercial production starting with the MK IV. But just my summation from what I have seen. Will update as I get info.

Maybe yes, but i'm not 100% sure.. I saved this photo from an old thread of a BIG Collector, Nick P.. He has several very old catalog of the Chris Reeve knives. But he collects only the true customs of Chris Reeve, the "hunting knives", VERY early South African models.. Surely he might know more of this MK. Now I write to him a PM
