Which Mora model ?

I prefer the stainless ,it is what they use in Sweden. The carbon is only for the demand of the north american market. That said I have several carbon 511's because the local farm implement store has them for 12$ and I picked another one up yesterday and it was on sale for 7$ and had a new logo. They used to be K.J. Erikson and now they are Mora of Sweden now that Frosts and Erikson have merged.

They have a nice new logo as well and now the logo is on the sheath as well.

I have a stainless clipper but prefer the hard handle on the 511.
I think the 511 is like a 510 with a guard.

One word: Classic!

The 510 is my favorite, 780 is okay too, can't really go wrong though. Mora's are actually my preferred wilderness carry and have successfully relegated my Fallkniven F1 to drawer duty (no joke).

I'd get at least 3 if I were you, a 510 should be somewhere in the mix. ;)

Er...no.
If nobody used carbon-moras over here, they wouldn't make them!
There are just as many people using carbon as stainless (maybe even more).

Is there any advantage or disadvantage to using stainless over carbon for food prep ?
Or is it just a matter of maintenance in regards to the high carbon model.

I have a #2, 510, 780 and 946.

The blades are so similar the choice is really carbon or stainless, handle style and sheath.

#2 handle a little small for me and no guard

510 is okay but seems a little cheap

780 is nice. It is carbon steel and has a hard plastic handle.

946 is nice. It is stainless with a "sticky" rubber handle (sort of like the resporine of a swamp rat but more so) and the best sheath.

Hard choice between the 780 and 946 and depends whether the "sticky" handle bothers you. I would choose the 946 because either handle is fine with me and the 946 has a better sheath.

I've got a few Mora blades in different sizes that are getting wooden handles as we speak. They're all laminated and came pretty darn sharp. I'm looking forward to finishing the handles and putting them to work.

I also just ordered a 780 triflex and a 2000.

The 740 MG with carbon steel is my new favorite, though I still like my 2000. A 2000 in carbon steel would be great.
