Im looking to buy two moras other than the 2000 or more expensive ones that I will use for hiking and general woods use. Ill probably want to do some light batoning and shave fuzzy sticks etc. I already own the 780 and am looking to buy two more. I probably want at least one of the rubber ones such as clipper or 946 and I would like one of the moras I get to be stainless. Which moras would you recommend?

I really love my 510 and would recommend it without a doubt. It's my favorite blade amongst many others.

Yeah there no doubt that I love my 780, but the handle does get slick. Definitly go with the clipper.

I echo your comment....The 510 (red) is excellent, the 545 (blue) is the same knife in stainless, either way you can't lose.

This is a topic I could talk about all day long. My three favorites are the 510, Clipper and 780. If you want one with a rubber handle that will give you a great grip, the Clipper is definitely the best choice. I will be the first to admit that I know nothing about batoning, but I have seen pictures of people batoning with the Craftsman style (740, 760, 780) so I know it can be done. Here is a picture I saved on my computer a long time ago that shows the tangs of the different style knives. I am not sure what this has to do with batoning, but it is a great picture.

I own a couple, and like you am thinking I might need a couple more:D I have a few #1s a clipper and a stainless 780,I always find my self carring the 780,just seems to be the right size for most chores, and the sheath while far from great is at least secure.I think the clipper is a great, handy blade, very light and a great slicer, though for some reason the 780 just feels a little tougher imo.I'll probobly buy a triflex craftsman and a eriksson #2.Thats what im thinking now anyway, probobly change my mind before I order though:o

I own, enjoy and recommend the Eriksson 711, which in the photo above has a longer tang. Carbon steel, but there is a stainless version as well. The handle is very grippy and comfortable.

Can't really say which to get but here are my sons...

I really want to get a Mora 2000. I just about ordered one last week and decided not to since I didn't know what else I wanted at the time. I am thinking of putting in an order for a 2000, a #1 and maybe another Opinel or Okapi. I already have an Opinel No. 8 and one of the Okapi ring lock folders, but I'm sure I could find uses for a couple of other varieties. I'm thinking an Opinel #6 or #7 and maybe one of the medium sized Okapis.

I really love my #510 Red plastic handle in carbon steel. Especially now that I wrapped the handle in green paracord. It tones down the red a bit while leaving enough to be easily findable if dropped, and it fills the hand a lot better.

BTW: I took it salt water fishing over labor day. Not a spot of rust. That officially made up my mind that I have no use for stainless steel whatsoever.

P.S. I was inspired by Pitdog Jr. knife. Thanks Jr. I'm so glad i did it.

I just ordered the 2000 and the Y&B Carbon clipper. I would recommend the Craftsman with the Laminated Blade and the Blus handled SS clipper. I have both of those and swear by them and never at them.

Here is my answer..... get on of each. The 510 is my favorite, but I have owned at least 15 (ragweedforge retirement program says me:)) and have never been disappointed with any of them;)
