I doubt you will notice a difference at all as far as toughness, and strength go. A knife of this length would be fairly hard to damage even by prying with it, unless you put a pipe on the handle. It is near impossible to get my BA-e to bend by hand(of course this is 1/4"). I don't see any problems with 3/16" unless it's intentional.
Slight bend maybe, damage doubtful.
