Where is the bacon option? I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't survive a week without bacon no matter which knife I had.....unless I had my 9 and there were some wild boars around;).
Looks like some pretty strong cases made for the 4 , porque no lo tengo. Plus, my 9 has the remora in there and other stuff on the sheath, so like everyone here I'm really choosing two knives. But I'm not gonna argue for an ax. If I fell into the woods with my 9, that's what I'd have on me, tho.

Love my 2.. just did this exact experiment but for a shorter time.. shelter building with it was a snap. One dead log and 30 minutes of branch cutting later and I had a great 'A' frame shelter. Splitting wood is easy with the 2. Processing fish and small game is easy enough still. The blade is big enough for all defense (although not ideal) the top was good at drilling for a fire board. .. it just rocks

If this was a really strict " one knife ONLY" thing I would take a BK2 because it is a good chopper but also can do finesse work if needed. However if I could take my new BK9 with a sidesaddle remora that would be my top choice since it gives me outstanding wood processing capability for wet or damp wood and the remora would handle food and wild game prep.

I'll make sure there is a Pie/Cake/Bacon option next time.

BK4 is my choice! It is a large blade for wood gathering but still very useful for smaller tasks. Add in that for me it carries well and it is full of win! Truthfully though in PAC NW winter an axe rules! It is simply the best hand tool for wood processing.

Ditto, I don't own one but I know my KA-BARs well enough to say it's the design I would chose for that "unplanned" situation.

I have lived outdoors in the PNW for many trips and the BK9 would be best. Unlike the small trees back East the PNW is made up of biggest stuff and size matters.:D

I'd prefer an axe and my bk15.

But if i couldn't bring an axe i'd go with the becker that has the most axe like atributes. Preferably a kukri, brute or machax.

I don't own a 9 but i've done a fair amount of wood processing with my rtakII, and it just can't compete with an axe at splitting and chopping. Especially at sub zero temperatures.

I'm not skilled or knowledgeable enough about even the basics of living in the woods so I did not vote. Reading the comments here was very interesting especially since I live in Oregon.

After year in the PNW woods I would take my BK77, big enough to process wood, small enough for little jobs and the S30V mean I don't have to screw around with protecting it, also kydex is a must for the NW winters. Leather is bound to get soaked.

The BK77 is a great knife.

Seeing as I am from the PNW, Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada, I would choose a BK2 and since I have a BK14 which will be bolted to the BK2 when it arrives, that would be my choice. I camp a fair bit and have come to the conclusion that a BK2 would suit my needs the best. I have longer blades but don't really see a real need for anything over 5-6" for the time being anyways. BK2 will do what you need it to do and with a smaller blade along for the ride you would be golden!
