which one first.. ritter mk1 or spyderco para mil 2?

I know I'll end up with both.. it seems PM 2 gets more vote.

How about if you don't consider the scale material at all? PM 2 still the better choice?

The para 2 has the more useful blade shape but the ritter blade is by far the more attractive and aesthetically pleasing to me.

I'd personally get a mini ritter and a para2. Getting a full sized ritter and a para2, or visa versa, is a little redundant since they are pretty similar in size. You'll probably like them both, but why have two knives that are very similar to accomplish the same task?

Having a mini ritter lets you carry it everywhere, and you forget you even have it. It takes up very little pocket space so it's pretty easy to have on you 24/7. However, having the para2 lets you do more serious work than the ritter, but since it takes up more pocket room, you only carry it when you need a knife.

my 2 cents :D

my primary user will be skyline. it will be carried with zt0550 most of the time. however, i would like to rotate zt550 with others which has same blade length. since PM2 and MK1 also has 3.5" blade or around there, they will fit.

i know there are others who can make as good a scale as cuscadi or that other maker. with possibly less expensive options. so scale is not an issue. tho, now thinking about PM2's blade profile is rather different from what i have so far..

I have both and enjoy both. I think they are both great cutters/slicers but the para2 is slimmer and therefore easier in the pocket. I agree the Ritter's traditional handles are garbage but when you add Cuscadi or Wilkins scales/handles to the mix the knife becomes a thing of beauty!! I actually enjoy both openers but find the Axis lock easier for me to open and close one-handed....which isn't to say the para2 is difficult but rather comes down to simply preference. My personal choice on daily carry is the Ritter or even a gold class Benchmade(both in M4 steel), but buy both, try both and you'll probably find you'll use both!! Luck and enjoy.....
