Which one fueled the fire?

First it was the Kershaw Packrat. Then I found myself with a ZT0200 and I just didn't like it...at all. Still don't. However it made me want to find a ZT I did like. Then more Kershaws and ultimately the ZT0550. My favorite ZT now.

half serrated stainless Leek. My Mom gave me one for my birthday in 2004, but it started developing surface rust. I took it back & got another cuz I liked it so much. Now I've got 4 with another on the way. And a coworker showed me his ZT0200. I liked it, but missed the AO of my Leek, so I got a 301. Now I've got 2 301s, a 100, & 2 350s.

The Leek. My buddy had one for awhile and I always enjoyed looking at it. I got around to looking at Kershaw from that knife, and now I'm obsessed with them.

Kershaw blur, back when they still had the grip tape? inserts. I would love a throwback run of those.

The skyline started it all for me.. that might have contributed to why i now own 9 of them :) it goes with me everywhere. even though its my back up edc at the moment.
kershaw (zt actually) was also my first knife purchase over $200... The ZT 0560

A blue scallion manufactured in '02. I saw the speedsafe action and bought it on the spot. At the time it was the most I'd ever spent on a pocket knife. Turned out to be a good one and it led to the purchase of a leek ('04) and a chive ('03).

I didn't buy another until last Christmas when I picked up a Crown and Select Fire for myself. I've added many more this year including a couple ZT's, my first blur and many others. Once the sun comes out again I'll assemble the herd for proper pics.

One more crappy pic with it's cousins.

Many years ago, before I was into knives, I bought a Buck Rush for an EDC. One day I lost it at work and, after much searching, I replaced it with an all black Scallion. That was it; I was hooked.

Sadly I lost the Scallion, but ended up finding the Buck in a coworker's pocket.

In 2004 I purchased a blue scallion from my local Army Navy store for $44.95.
It seemed like so much money at the time.....

for me it was the blur that got me looking at kershaws. I was really into assisted openers. But the knife that really had me going gonzo over kershaw was the Offset. That knife is one of the meanest blades out there. Its sad they no longer make anything like that.

I hear you. I probably paid ten bucks more buying from the fancy, high priced cutlery store at the mall. Kinda wish that place still existed.

My brother was flying to New York for a wedding. The only knife he had at the time was an Emerson Mini Commander. He didn't want to take it for fear of losing/confiscating an expensive knife. He bought a Select Fire because it had a good blade and the bit driver so there was no mistaking it for a weapon. Great inexpensive knife. That thing was sturdy as he'll and opened lighting fast. After owning a couple Gerbers i didn't think you could get quality like that for so cheap. After handling that i started looking at Kershaw and ZT. Few months later i bought a 0350, and now im a KAI fan for life.

A friend of mine had a Benchmade, so naturally, I went to Bass Pro and played with the knives. I went for the 1660 Leek. Knew nothing of blade steel, only that the quality of the knife was good and it was 'really cool' to play with. Fast forward and a local rip off artist was selling a used blur at the local swap shop for 115$ claiming that Kershaw was being bought by Gerber. I should really thank them, because from that it was onto the intranets to buy another leek in case I lost this one! (I had left one out at work to go do something real quick, and it walked off) So I bought one, then another, and then that one started looking good...

For me it wasn't a knife.

My first Kershaw was a Junkyard Dog II, it got me hooked on flippers, sold (which I now regret) it because I had no plans on collecting knives. I bought a couple of Damascus Skylines because I like Damascus and they were a good deal.

I happened to read this forum last summer and learned about the ZT 0560 and became obsessed with owning one. Hanging out here and learning about KAI made me a appreciate the quality of the corporation KAI is. The employees that have been visible on BF and the kind actions they have extended to fellow knife enthusiasts is complimentary to KAI and themselves.

So it was the company, the employees, the forum and it's contributing members that made me own the KAI knives I have and want more.

The old G-10 Wild Wild Turkey 1431 for me. It's my current work-shirt-pocket edc (throw it on when I leave my office and go out into the plant).

One of the first quality knives I saw, along with a Benchmade, was the Kershaw 2410, 2415 and 2420 Liner lock knives. I couldn't imagine spending $60 on a knife back then! Did have a Kershaw Wild Turkey in Titanium, and the Kershaw Talon in Titanium (2 of those) shortly after. Then the Ken Onion knives started coming out. (Anyone remember the Whisper?)

Now, I alternate EDC with a 3600, G10 Leek, Ti Tyrade or Ti JYD II SG2 with a traditional.

bought my first leek back in 01, which i have since lost.... twas a sad day, it had the old style serrations that i really do miss. Since then i have had soooo many leeks, usually carry at least one leek, including my new random leek and my 1660cb. I bought my first leek and spyderco sharpener the same day, and wore it out. I really do love my snap on green blur, probably my prized kershaw possession. This forum has only fueled the fire, thanks a lot guys....
