I am confused??

I am looking for a fixed blade for daily carry FOR utility, backpacking, and backup. Which one piece would you guys recommend and why? Do they all have a hollow handle?

I would like to stay at the 4" models because I travel through a lot of different states. If I did get a larger one, do cops usually bother people with larger blades?

I live in PA where there is no limit on length.

The Sable, very cool and nicely ground as well....just a thought!

Shane..
I prefer the spearpoint family so I carry the Shadow IV, IWB with a Custom Concealex Sheath..
Its mid-size makes it easy to carry daily and it can handle almost any task at hand..

Now the Shadow III is real nice for daily carry and may be better suited if you have legal carry considerations.. For its size its a lot of knife..
The pancake sheath is excellent and comfortable too..

Since I also carry a Large Sebenza, I find the Shadow IV perfect as an everyday fixed blade..

All the CRK fixed blades have the Hollow Handles..
Take Care..

Shane,
Shadow III is the one. I've had mine for six months and have carried it daily, everday except for maybe two days. It has almost become a part of my body. I suggest that if you "try it, you'll like it".

But, I like the sheath on the Shadow III better.

This was exactly my opinion when I've got both Shadow III & Mountainer I, then I've asked here &.. Denis sent me first the Shadow III with single guard & thumb rest then Shadow IV in the same config. single guard, notched spine.

I personally like the idea of a Shadow IV sized Project I!! Without the extra time for serrations and night index.

I'd have to agree with G2, especially since you mentioned "utility". Re "back-up", the next larger model I have seen advertised (Not by CRK) as a fighter. It should however, be considered a utility model first.

I have a Shadow III and really like it. A 4" blade is a decent length without too many legal problems with regular carry. I ordered mine directly from CRK. Ordering direct helped me because I wanted the Shadow III with a snap over sheath (like the Shadow IV) instead of pancake sheath. They were very fine, helpful people and the product speaks for itself.
