This will be a user. I (gasp) am not going to wave mod this knife. The Police will be a p/e G10. The Military will be s30v p/e G10. Which has a better lock? Which is better suited as an edc?

The police probably has a better lock, but the Military has a very strong lock as well. The Military is the only liner lock I trust.

Military has better lock. I don't trust backlocks from endura to police anymore.

of the 2 i would probably go with the millie, its a little liter, i have had both, liked both, & its hard to pick between the 2, just depends on what "grabs" ya, like i say they both are great knives.

the locks on both work just fine, i wouldnt sweat that.

i prefer the liner lock and blade profile of the military.

but prefer the handle shape and width of the p3.

toss up. although i can get a better edge with s30v than vg10.

I don't believe that one knife has a better lock than the other, as both are precise and dependable.

My choice between the two would have to be the Military for EDC. The Millie blade has more depth and more belly, which lends itself to a greater variety of tasks, IMO. I have a half dozen Militaries of which 3 are rotated for my daily carry. Ultimately, you will want both the P3 and a Millie, trust me, I know. ;)

My favourite answer to these kinds of questions: Both.

Answer for the real world where money does NOT grow on trees: Military. I think the blade shape would be better for EDC, more belly. n-n-no wave mod this time??? Are you feeling ok? Maybe you should sit down :D

Have you seen disassembled endura? There is less than 1mm of steel which holds backlock open. I have also disassembled P3 there it was little bit better - about 1mm.

Not to turn this into a which lock is better war, but that means virtually nothing. The shear strength of steel is so incredibly high, that would not be the area where the lock fails. If you were to stress the lock by pushing on the blade edge, you would most likely destroy the FRN before the backlock sheared off.

I have one of each. The Police has unintentionally unlocked on me once or twice (probably was my onw fault). The Military has a more tactile and positive lock-up and has never unintentionally unlocked on me. Plus, I like the grip of the Military and the lighter weight.

For me its a toss up and I tend to switch up which one I'm carrying. I like that the Military because its light and has a great lock. I like the Police because its thin and has a strong blade.

Skip this both and buy Bladetech Magnum Hunter ( two " light " models in case you lost one. During war in my country i had Spyderco Endura 1 generation for cutting cloth in emergency and it was OK. Endura is in my opinion better choice (two pieces, plain and serrated or plain both). But when i see Bladetech magnums ( " lite " ), wished to had them. War is over but i have 10 - 15 pieces of everything.
Police and Military are to expensive, Police has to spike blade, to long for pocket, and to heavy. Military is to light ( you never sure is it in a pocket or clip ) and has notch on blade that must hitch on cloth or rope instead of cut it. It has also very sharp tip and potentially can hurt wounded place.
Blade Tech ( plain ) is OK.

I would recommend the Military. It has one of the strongest liner locks in existence---I trust it fully---and the blade geometry of the flat-ground S30V blade is better than that, in my opinion, of the original C07 Police, but is nearly matched by the new fully flat ground Police3.

Comparing the Military and the Police3 is a tough choice, but I would still take the Military. I very much like its lightness in the pocket, its thinness, and the cutting power available from the blade. They're both excellent knives, so it's essentially up to your personal preference of the designs, and whether you'd prefer a back lock to a liner, etc.

Both would serve you remarkably well.

I think since they are both excellent knives, it all depends on how you want to carry them. The military only carries tip-down on the right side, and the Police 3 has four way carry.

The police 3 is slimmer and a little bit longer, but the military has the curved belly for better cutting IMHO.

Handle both if you can and pick which one feels better. Good luck hunting, J.

i have handled both and they seem to be amazing. im about to buy a military with digital g10. im very excited

I say police all the way! as for this response, i say take a look at the ti-lite liner lock, id bet that it is strong then the military by a lot! then again, who tries to cut things using the dull edge?

I'm leaning toward the police. Every time I open my hacked police, that lock sounds so secure. Just wish they could make one in s30v. Eventually I suppose I'll have to buy them both.
