Which one: Ritter RSK1 in S30V, Cabelas D2 or Spyderco Mini Manix?

I decided to give Spyderco a try since the remarks re: the Mini Manix have been very positive on the forum. Plus, I have two Benchmades (705/710HS)and a third on the way whenever the M2 steel arrives for the Large Ritter.

Mary Beth at New Graham looked at a couple of the Mini Manix's for me and she said the blades have little if no play and are centered and 'the blade is nice and oily'. ;)

OK Sal, this is my first venture to the world of Spyderco and I'm hoping the Mini Manix is all the quality I read about!

I'll let you know!

Received the Mini Manix earlier today from Mary Beth. Two days from West Virginia via Priority Mail. Now you know why I use Priority rather than UPS.

This knife is the sharpest I have ever received from any factory! The blade locks up well and is centered and the ergonomics fit my hand perfectly.

The G10 frame finish is just a little rough (plastic wise) but with time, that'll smooth out.

First opinion, this is one fine knife!

Kudos to Sal and the folks in Golden!

I've got a Ritter RSK1 M2 on order, placed it fairly early on and now see that the delivery will be approx June.

I'm looking for another EDC that will be in my pocket prior to this, possibly moving my BM705 to another EDC position.

I'm intrigued with the Mini Manix but have never had a Spyderco. I see it is a fairly heavy and wide knife for the pocket, weighing in at 5.5 ounces. That's fairly heavy IMHO, but I think doable.

Being that I'm getting the M2, should I duplicate this with the S30V version? THis knife is much lighter than the Mini Manix.

Or...the Cabelas has the narrower and just as light D2 version that many people talk about.

I use my knife a lot in the city and take them to the high country and peaks of Colorado. My knives are used and are not safe queens.

Anyone have some thoughts/suggestions as to this next purchase? I've read a lot of the posts about all of the knives but wanted to put it to the forum for your input.

Thanks.

Depends on what you're after. I have a regular manix and a ritter grip. They each have their advantages. The Manix is built like a tank with G10 and full, thick steel liners. For two knives the same size... the Ritter gives you more cutting edge than the Mini Manix in the same size package. It really depends on whether you prefer the choil or the extra amount of cutting edge.

Speaking of RSKII's...Has anyone got a mini-RSKII in M-2 delivered to them yet?? Are the mini's at the end of the production cycle? If so, I guess June is the earliest we will see them.:(
