which one

and dont forget the ceramics - imho your set isnt complete w/out a good super fine ceramic stone for finishing - i would get a soft ark (the larger the better) a DMT duo-fold fine/Xfine, a spydie ceramic finishing stone, and a decent steel, and imh this combo would handle 99.9% of your sharpening chores - as long as you know how to sharpen freehand - if not i recommend either the lansky or gatco, gatco is cheaper and as good imho - but that darned ceramic will put that hair poppin scary a$$ edge when all else fails in my experience - it works for me .....

I have the Sharpmaker 204, Gatco clamp-on device, ceramic sticks and DMT Fine/X-Fine, and I must say that you cannot go wrong with the Sharpmaker. The knife sometimes moves about when using the Gatco device, so that's buried and forgotten now.
I also have a Puma strop, which is my last step.
Try the 204, you won't go wrong.

I have most of the sharpeners 203,204 sharpmaker, edgepro, beltsander and buffer but the 204 sharpmaker is the one I use the most. But I reprofile the knife on the beltsander first then work the burr off on the sharpmaker and touch up the knife on th 204.
