Hey guys I'm new here .... I want to get a spyderco knife the 3 I'm looking at are the NATIVE "black" the DELICA or the ENDURA .

I don'y know what one to get .

Thanks ....

Tell me what do you like to do with your knife. Otherwise I would say - take a Calypso Jr. or a Caly 3 :)

Can you handle any of them? How the knife feels is one of it's most important features. The three knives you mentioned are fairly similar, so unless you have a preference of blade steel, you should handle them first.

Just get one of each! :)
You couldn't go wrong with either......but I'd recommend an Endura....a Waved one.

Have you figured out the difference between the steels of the blades?

My preferance: 1. Endura 2. Delica 3. Native

If it is too large for you, then go Delica. However, there's nothing wrong with the Native. All good, just different.

"Handle and examine" is always the best advice if that's possible for you. Then get the one that feels the best in your hand and has a useful blade shape/length for your needs.

If that's not possible and you have to M/O, here are some of the differences...

The Delica / Endura series has FRN scales over nested stainless liners. They will be a bit more rigid when holding them. The Native has an FRN handle with no liners.

The Endura blade is the longest of the 3 at just about 4". The Native blade is 3" and the Delica is a shade under 3". The Native is a spear point blade while the D / E blades are more of a modified drop point. The Delica & Endura give you a choice of VG-10 or ZDP-189 for blade steel. VG-10 is an excellent all around choice. ZDP-189 is very hard with excellent edge retention, but it's also harder to sharpen and it's less impact resistant (not as "tough") than VG-10. The Native blade steel is S30V, a great steel that I have had no problems with, personally. Others have reported chipping problems, but I haven't experienced any.

All 3 are front lock knives. The Delica and Endura are a bit easier for me to open because of the larger hole that is fully exposed. The Native's opening hole is partially covered by the scales.

HTH,

I am a fan of VG-10 and prefer it over S30V because it is easier to sharpen and still maintains an edge long enough for me.

If you do not want to sharpen often go for the S30V.

I would not recommend a ZDP model unless you will be careful with the thin edge and you feel comfortable with your sharpening skills.

Assuming you cant handle any, I would recommend:
1: Delica or Endura VG-10
2: Native S30V
3. Delica or Endura ZDP-189

try to handle each. Get whichever is more comfortable.
