Which one's for me? Millie or ZT0200

Good choice! I myself just sent payment for a ZT0300 (frame lock version), and can't wait to get it.
I've got a Military as well, but it's intimidating to most people who aren't knife nuts, so it stays home a lot when I go to work lest I scare the cube-dwellers. Out on the boats, it's a different story.

I will be sure to leave some feedback after some time spent with it.

And who am I kidding, I'll end up carrying the Emerson AND the ZT AND the Tenacious. After all, I have the pockets to spare, though at that point the only empty pocket will be left rear, with the other five taken. Then I won't feel like I am playing favorites or leaving anybody out, and my wife won't be able to wonder/ask about why I want them all when I can only carry XX amount at a time. :) I think my brother is sending me a Leatherman P4, I wonder where I will fit that....watch pocket?

Also, while I am rambling, the more I think about it the more I think that a Military and a ZT0200 carried in combo would make an outstanding and extremely complimentary pair.

For reference, this is what I daily carry whenever I have jeans on, which is 95% of the time I am not at work. (and most of that stuff would go to work, too)

Firearm
3rd Gen Glock 19 with Ameriglo Operator night sights, green front/yellow rear (link) and a Streamlight TLR-1 link carried in a Raven Concealment Systems Phantom LC link on a Wilderness Instructor belt (link) and loaded, typically, with 15+1 124+P Speer Gold Dots.

Keychain
Fenix P1D-Q5 Link
Fenix E01 Link
Boker Keycom Link
spy capsule with 4x200mg ibuprofen
Peanut lighter link

Emerson CQC-8, satin finish plain edge with wave feature. link

Fenix P3D-CE Similar item, mine is only 160 lumen rating

Fox Labs 2oz flip top pepper spray, stream pattern Link

Citizen Echo drive

Cell phone, wallet.

At work I am more limited. I take either a G26 or the G19, each with night sights, sometimes the 19 has th TLR1 sometimes it does not (if it goes in an M-TAC), I may substitute a smaller knife for the Emerson, and the OC downsizes to a keychain refill. The P3D-CE may also be left at home, leaving only the two lights on the keychain.

And to puukkoman, Phillip Dobson makes beautiful scales. Take a look at his work. It's in his sig link, directly above your post.
Ah! I see that now. Nice work indeed! I completely missed the tongue-in-cheek nature of your post, Mr. Dobson.

The "flipper" on the 0200 also catches your thumb and prevents you from closing the blade on your finger.

I'm not trying to blast you. :D

Very good point...allow me to clarify my situation :). I guess my thumb is fat enough that I found the flipper to be obtrusive when closing it, i.e. the blade only closed about 1/16" (if that) before the flipper hit my thumb. This made operation feel somewhat clumsy and cumbersome to me. I tried simultaneously moving my thumb out of the way and pushing the spine with my index finger to close, but the action was so fast I ended up putting a good nick in my thumbnail. Thankfully I didn't cut myself, but it was the ultimate deciding factor for me to return the thing.

To be fair, I'm not a fan of flippers period for this same reason. I always feel like the flipper gets in my way. I just thought it to be a legitimate design concern/consideration for some people.

Edit: Warp, just saw you ordered the 0200...enjoy it and try to get more use out of it than I did from mine :D

Now THAT is my type of EDC. Seen it on glocktalk too. :D

Well, you ordered one so it doesn't really matter, but perhaps you'd still want to watch my youtube video where I compare the ZT0200, the Military, and the FKMD Profili.

Very nice review Dagon:thumbup: I enjoyed it:) I definitely suggest that anyone who's interested in comaparing the Millie with the 0200 check it out.

Believe it or not I hit up Youtube again before placing the order and, yes, I watched your video. Two or three nuclear/world wars sounds good to me. :)

I handled a Millie today. In a word it is sleek. I really liked it and will definately have to pick one up later. I also handled a bunch of others including some Paras and an Emerson Super Comander. Damn is that thing big!

Well, it took more than two years but I finally acquired the Spyderco Military as well. Now I have a trio of 4" folders. Millie, ZT0200 and CQC-8.

Hindsight says...I should have gone with the Millie over the 0200. I stopped wearing the style of jeans I was sporting when I bought the 0200 and as a result of the pocket changes I virtually never carried the 0200. That sucker is just SO BIG in a front pocket. The CQC-8 and the Millie are just so much more sleek and slender.

That CQC-8 has remained my EDC for the 2+ years since this thread died. We'll see if the Military takes the starter role here or if it becomes a committee approach.

Oh yes, no pics but it's a digi-cam, black blade, plain edge in CPM S30V

We told you so:D

You know, I noticed the same thing. I switched to a spec bump, and I never looked back. the zt 0200 is a beast, and if you want a work knife, there is nothing better, but you have to love big knives to want to carry it.

The military HANDS DOWN. I own both, and the Military is by far my all time favorite knife, and that includes striders, sebenzas and just about everything else I've owned. Not to knock the ZT as it is a very tough knife, the recurve kills it for me and it's very bulky.

The age old answer for this type of question, no matter what board you are on or what type of item you are discussing, is "get both". That answer usually sucks, but is very common.

It took years, but I got both!

i own a zt 0300 and have nothing but kind words. it sees more pocket time then my millie. don't get me wrong i love both but i have more of a sweet spot for the zt. besides how can u beat it with features like speed safe, the frame lock, the strider design.

its a great blade and my favorite in my collection

-fyi they sell zt 0300 for 180 ish on amazon

Everyone should own a Millitary. Knives don't get much sharper and the Millie stays that way with little effort.
It's much different than the ZT 200. The Millie's thin profile and light weight makes for a more EDC-friendly folder IMO.

The 0300 was never a serious consideration. The 0200 I was considering, and purchased, and have had for a couple of years does not have speed safe, and is larger.

I carried it for the first time yesterday. The Emerson CQC-8 still more comfortable in pocket. With the tip down position being required on the Millie the spine jimping juts out and isn't very smooth or comfortable when you run your hand along it as you reach into your pocket. It's good enough, though, and certainly easier to pocket than the 0200
