• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Which Opinel?

A #6 with the blade ground down to a sheepsfoot barely retaining the nail nick and the wood body sanded small to match makes a great watch pocket knife.

The wood body will be shortened to the point where you have impinged on the blade slot. You might want to glue a sliver of wood in to the end of the slot to strengthen things. I've back pocket carried such a knife for weeks at a time so Opinels are stouter than you think.

Just got a #9 and I like it so much that I ordered a #7 for more carry-ability. I love the carbon blade, it's like a living thing. Yes it requires care but it has a "personality." The inox you just tend to forget about.

As a collector, I have much more fun with the carbon. One of my girlfriends made me dinner last night and I pulled out all the fruit from her fridge and cut up all sorts of stuff with the knife. Banana skins gave it a purple hue, but the limes rubbed that patina right off. Now it's sort of all over the place, color-wise. :o
