Which particular handle material is your favorite and what makes it your favorite ?

Bead blasted micarta for a user. Wood burl for a looker.

Smooth white bone for me. I love the look of ivory but with all the other stuff that goes with that I'll just stick with white bone.

Emerson's G-10. Holds on to you like grim death.

Titanium. Love the smooth, gray look, and the slick/grippy feel.

I do like the look of a lot of the wood inlays available on the Sebenza. Some beautiful stuff.

I'm also smitten with some of the fluted titanium on some Spydercos like the Native5 and Military.

I've gone through numerous faves over time, but right now I'm at:

Synthetic - G10
Natural - stag

G10 sort of speaks for itself: durable, weatherproof, endless colors/color combos, can be glassy smooth or very aggressively textured to suit tastes and uses, etc.

As for stag, I love the way it looks and feels, and I like that it can be had without sacrificing a whole animal, as it is easily available in the form of sheds. I'm not against hunting or commercial processing of animals for food, etc, I just think it's cool that something an animal sheds naturally every year can be found and recycled by man for other purposes.

If I had to pick just one, it would have to be G-10 since it can be had in colors from a pale green jade to ebony black and is both durable and relatively cheap, yet doesn't feel as cheap as glass-reinforced nylon or Dupont's Zytel by any other name.

I like the look and feel of carbon fiber particularly my ZT 0630, 0562 and 0620. I also own some Peel-Ply Spydercos that I like.

I find myself falling back to G-10 and micarta lately after going on a cf binge a couple of years ago.

I found the 940 to be much better with G-10 vs the normal aluminum handles so I would recommend buying a G-10 version of the 940. I ended up liking it more than the cf version (940-1)

Could never pick one.... too many nice ones out there.

Stabilized burl wood or the cleanliness of White linen Micarta? Stag? Jigged bone? Even G10 has it's place.

All depends on the knife in question.

i have never owned a G10 handle knife

most are too expensive. would like to buy 940-2 with black g10 one day

You can get G10 handled knives for under $30 bucks.

For myself personally, I love micarta on any knife, and polished carbon fiber is a beautiful thing.

My favorites depend on use. I like any knife to have metal liners or be made of metal. The handle material can then be handle slabs or inlays. My harder use favorites are:

G10

I'm not a big fan of injection molded handles except maybe on some small slip joint knives and SAKs. I like some natural bone or horn handles on certain knives like Case.

Titanium in my folders. Low maintenance, wears well, easily modified/pimped in many models.
G10 in some folders and on my Striders. Durable, multiple colors and patterns available, practically indestructible.
Micarta on my fixed blades(esp canvas/denim). Looks great, grippy and doesn't suffer from shrinkage/warpage.

I love the look and feel of natural materials but just don't feel comfortable with them on my knives.

Love me some walrus penis! Just kidding, though that is what oosik is if you ever see it on a knife.

I'm really only interested in folders and my favorite materials are CF and G10. Not really because there are things I love about it but because I dislike other things.

Not big on plastic and really don't like aluminum as it gets dinged up and will eventually look bad and is probably my least favorite. Not a big fan of wood on a modern folder either. Ti is ok but I'm not big on Ti or stainless as they usually make for a heavy knife and can be cold during the winter, and if you drop it there can be dings that can't polish out.

That leaves CF and G10. They don't do anything exceptional but you just need something to hold onto on a folder and I don't find grippiness very necessary on a folder. On a fixed blade that gets more of a workout I can see the handle material being more important. But they aren't really my thing and I don't have much experience.

Canvas Micarta is my favorite but I'm guessing I've owned my last knife in it unless I can find someone to put it in a Buck 303.
I just love the way it feels in hand. Almost organic, never cold with just the slightest feeling of give to it that really isn't there...just the best.
